CHAPTER SIX:

| ashton’s pov |

Today was the day Charlotte was going to leave. I decided not to tell her all about the tumor; she might get worried. I didn’t want her to get worked up over me. She had to worry about something else. Her future.

The walk to the train station was quiet. None of us spoke because we knew that if we did, we’d start to cry. Because we won’t see each other for months; I was scared that it would turn into a year.

Reaching the station, I slowly let go of her hand. Instead, I wrapped my arms around her.

"You promise you won't leave me?" I murmured into her hair, taking in her scent before she left for university. There were crowds of people around us, probably going to the same destination as Charlotte. But I could care less about other people. I just needed Charlotte, and Charlotte, alone.

She pecked me on the lips. It was quick, but it made me happy. "Promise," she reassured.

And I held onto that one word. That was the only thing that could keep me going. It made me think of reasons why I shouldn't surrender. Reasons why I shouldn't give up.

Because I still had Charlotte.

And Charlotte meant the whole world to me.

“You can let go now.” She laughed, her blue eyes staring into mine.

She was the stronger one in the relationship, because I couldn’t live without her. I would break down into tears right now, if it weren’t for the people surrounding us.

I joined in, laughing a bit and pulled away. “Sorry. I just really love you, Charlotte.”

“I love you too, Ashton. Always.”
