The "Normal" Life of the "Average" Girl (a Percy Jackson fanfic)

Chapter 1

Update: If you're reading this story in 2020, please note that I originally posted this in 2014. All of the updates I will be doing are all formatting things. If you find the desire to read this please don't judge how chaotic it may be; this was just for fun among friends. Any updates will not be bettering the story line or writing style since I am just keeping this up as a reminder of what I used to write in the past. This is going to be my only 2020 note so everything else is how I originally wrote it in 2014.

Hello everyone! I just want to tell you guys I don't own any of the original Percy Jackson characters! Throughout the story you will meet some of my own characters though! Also a few of the flashbacks and P.O.V's are not written by me. (A few of my friends helped write those.) This is my first story so I'm open to writing tips! I hope you enjoy!!!

Chapter 1:
As the bus hits a bump my earbud falls out of my ear. I hear Percy's voice call out dramatically,"Finally! She can hear! The earbud has came out!"

I spun around in my chair and shout, "Shut up Percy! I am trying out for a solo today!"

"Whatever!" He says mimicking a snotty girl.

I turned back around in a huff. Why does he have to be so annoying? I give up on practicing the song and I put on One Direction.

Suddenly the bus stops and I hit my head on the seat in front of me. Groaning I grab my bag and push my way off the bus. As I get off Percy grabs my arm and pulls me to the side. "Good luck on your solo today! I know you'll get it!"

"Thanks bro!" I reply thankful for him saying something.

"Did you talk to her?" Grover shouts behind us.

"Did Grover tell you to say good luck?" I ask knowing that my annoying brother wouldn't say good luck to me.

"Yeah... but I really do know you will get it!" Percy calls after me as I walk away.

I'm so glad that I don't have any classes with Percy. But he gets to go on a field trip and I get to sit in my boring classes. Even though we are twins I don't have dyslexia but we both have ADHD. But not having dyslexia means I have better grades than Percy. Plus the fact that I'm just naturally smarter than him. Sometimes I think his head is filled with water. Maybe I think water instead of air because I'm a swimmer. I compete competitively and Percy loves the water but he never wanted to train with me or race other people. I have swim practice after school everyday and he stays and talks to his teachers.

I drift through my day and make it to 7th hour half asleep. As it walk through the door I perk up and I am alert. I have no idea why this happens and I sit down for my least favorite class. The class starts off normally and my mind starts to drift off to my solo tryout last hour. Then I hear my name called. "Calista?"

"Yes?" I say blushing as I hear snickering around me. "Can you repeat the question?"

"Calista. See me in the back room."

The back room? Usually she takes the kids out into the hall. Was it really that bad?

Again I feel that sense of alertness.

She gave the students a worksheet to work on as we walked to the back room. When we got in the room she shut the door behind her and turned to me. "Where is it?" She said her voice suddenly deeper.

"Uumm... Where is what? Did you lose something bec-"

"Shut up and tell me where you have it!"

"Which do you want me to do? Shut up or tell you something I have no idea about?" I laugh to myself thinking about the fact my brother would say the same thing.

Then she lunged. Her hands changed into claws as they extended toward me. I leapt backwards trying to stay out of her reach but I hit the shelf behind me. Now my head hurts and I'm being attacked by my biology teacher! I try to stand up and the shelf falls down beside me. Grabbing it I bring it up in tending to block her but when I stand up I get really dizzy and end up swinging it at her. As the board connects with her head she dissolves into a gold powder. Very confused I stumble back into the classroom and there I hear Mr. Brunner's voice asking where I was. I am able to say here before I hear another woman's voice. It was the old science teacher's. But she left at the beginning of the year? Didn't she?
