Chapter 41

The day after capture the flag the camp got another camper. I was swimming in the lake when she arrived. I was swimming and suddenly I heard my name being shouted.

"Callie!"

I stop swimming and tread water. There on the shore was Leo. He was screaming something but the Ares children were doing battle cries so I couldn't hear him.

"What?!" I scream back but it was hopeless. Instead I swam to the shore. When I got to the shore Leo was still standing there.

"Hellhounds." He points to the border of the camp.

"How many?" We begin jogging to the camp borders. On the way there we reach my pile of clothes and I quickly put on my bracelets and I slip my necklace back on. I don't even bother trying to put on my clothes so we go into battle with me in my bathing suit.

"Five or more. There is a lot of them."

"How many demigods?"

"Just one."

"Really?"

"Yup." He points to a girl that is sitting on a rock and yelling at Percy.

I run up to them. She screams, "You almost killed me! You almost took my head clean off!"

She is screaming so loud that I'm almost afraid she is going to hurt her self. "You almost killed me!"

Percy raises his hands like he is surrendering. "I was attacking the hellhound that was attacking you!"

"You still could've taken my head off!"

I step between them. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Calm down you two!"

She crosses her arms across her barely covered chest. "He almost killed me. He was swinging a sword at my head!"

"Okay okay. I believe you. But he probably trying to save you. He may be kind of stupid but he knows how to protect people from monsters."

"Awww I didn't know you felt that way about your big brother." He hugs me. As he is hugging me I see something coming toward us.

"Duck!" I scream. Both hit the ground and I throw a knife at the hellhound that was coming at us. It hits the ground and I throw another. When the knife hits the hellhound turns to dust.

I feel arms wrap around me. "You saved me! It was going to eat me!" The girl cries.

"Oh come on!" Percy calls. "She threw a knife at your head and you didn't yell at her!"

"She actually killed that thing!"

I look quizzingly at him. He shrugs his shoulders. "I may have missed and hit the tree. Luckily Ryan came up and killed it." I groan and facepalm.

"Okay come on. Let's get you to the Big House." I lead the girl away from the fighting. After we get away I ask her her name. "Kat." She replies and then sees Chiron and faints. I catch her and slowly lower her to the ground. Chiron gallops up to me. "Oh dear. Did she see me?"

"Yeah. I wasn't able to warn her."

"What did you find out about her?"

"Let's get her to the Big House first." He nods and picks her up and puts her onto his back. We start walking to the Big House. A few campers pass us on their way to join the fight. When we get the the infirmary he lays her onto an open bed.

"Has she told you her name?"

"Kat. Probably short for Katie or Katherine."

A voice in the doorway startles me. The deep voice of Mr. D fills the room. "Mine." He points at the girl in the bed and leaves.

"Did he just claim her?"

"Yes he did."

"Can he claim her like that?"

"Apparently. Can you watch her? Stay with her until she wakes up. You know what to do."

"Yeah I can watch her."

"I'm going to check on the other campers." And with that he left.

While I was waiting for Kat to wake up Avira walks in looking for me. "Hey Callie. Percy is looking for- who is that? She has really big boobs!" He stares at her for a second. Then he looks at me again. "Percy is looking for you." And then he leaves. What? Now I really study her. She has bleach blond hair. Her face was pretty, with prominent cheekbones, big lips, and she had tweezed eyebrows. She was a shorter girl but was skinny. Avira was right about one thing. She had giant boobs. If the amount of makeup didn't tell me anything about her her clothing sure did. Her very revealing clothes showed off her stomach. The shirt looked more like a crop top and the shorts almost didn't cover her. She was probably not a good girl.

The more I studied her the more I hated her. If Dionysius didn't claim her then she would be a daughter of Aphrodite.

Suddenly I noticed that she was waking up. I stayed seated on the chair next to her. When she woke up I noticed her eyes. It was actually hard not to notice them. She had big, round, chocolate, brown eyes. And the first thing that I saw in them was fear. I hear the door open and we both look to the door. In the doorway was Ryan. "Yo. Percy is looking for you."

"Me?" Kat asks.

"No me." I stand to leave. "Ryan can you show the camp to Kat? I have to go deal with Percy."

"Um yeah sure." Ryan replies. I get up and leave the room.
