We waved goodbye and I walked around the mall for a little longer. I was still thinking about his gift when I passed by a music store. I looked inside and saw this black guitar, sitting in the display window. An idea popped into my head. A GUITAR.

I rushed into the store, holding my purse as I ran. When I got in there, I looked around at all the different instruments. But I knew that I wanted that one in the window. It was perfect. It was something meaningful, something that represents his passion and his gift. It made him feel at home. He never stops talking about how his music makes him feel safe. But... was it original? I decided to get it anyway. He loves guitars.

I went up to the cash register with the guitar, bought it, and rushed out. I was passing by an art store in the way out of the mall, when another idea came to mind. I walked into the store with the guitar slung across my back and it instantly smelled of wood and paint. With that, i knew they were going to have what i needed. I walked up to the front desk.

"Hi. I was wondering if you guys did engravings here." I said. The short girl with long black hair and dark brown eyes smiled at me. "Of course! What do you need engraved?" She asked, and I held up the guitar. "Mind if I take a look at it?" I could hear her high heels clicking on the tile floor as she walked over to me. I nodded and she opened the case. "Perfect! It's the perfect type of wood to be engraved on, what would you like engraved onto it?" She looked up at me. I thought for a second. "Can I get an initial? Or does it have to be a word or sentence?" I asked, unsure. "Yes! We can do an initial! What would you like?" I knew exactly what he would want. "Maybe 'S.M' in cursive letters. Right near the strings." (a/n: STRINGS ASFJKFJCHB I'm soRRY)
"Sure! I'll bring it out in a few minutes." She said, taking the guitar and walking away. I sat down in some of the empty seats in the store when my phone started buzzing.

S: can't wait for our date tonight! ❤️

Amara: me neither 😘 so happy we're gonna be wearing sweats 🙄

S: i know... MY idea :)

Amara: ya sure! love youuuuuu ❤️

S: see you soon cutie 💞

I smiled at my phone and was snapped back into reality by the familiar clicking sound of the girl's heels. She was walking towards me with the guitar.
"Here! All finished." She handed it to me with a smile. I looked at it and got so happy seeing his initials engraved onto the guitar. It looked so amazing.

"I love it! Thank you. How much will it be?" I asked. "Oh no! Don't worry sweetie. This engraving is complementary." She said. "Thank you so much! It's for my boyfriend. I hope he likes it." I looked down at the guitar.
"He will." And with that, I left the store and walked out of the mall. I had the biggest smile on my face. I looked at the time and it was 4:00. Four already?! Shawn was picking me up in two hours. I hurried into the car, out of the parking lot, and back to the house.

I looked in the mirror. My hair was straightened and my skin was pale. It was freezing cold outside. I put my hands up to my face to start washing it. Then I got in the shower. Coming out of the shower I was wondering what would happen to my hair. I decided to just towel dry it and put in this moisturizer thing that my mom got me the other day. Then I changed into my clothes, which were black joggers and a black and grey Victoria's Secret sweatshirt. I was waiting for my hair to dry naturally when I got a text from Stephanie.

Steph: Hey... So I'm really sorry about what happened at the mall today. I shouldn't have brought up Shawn moving. I know he already told everyone, but you seem to be the most affected and I made it worse. I'm sorry

Amara: Hey! It's okay. Don't worry about it! Thank you for the help with his gift. I ended up getting him a guitar.

I sent her a picture.
