It took 8 months too find our way back home. We were lost in the northern part of the state. In that time, we got to know each other a bit better. It's summer now. The snow had melted and the world had come back to life. We all made it back to me and Lucy's house. We are all in the living room talking about our adventures.
Lucy and Scarlett are in the kitchen, making dinner. Scarlett is teaching Lucy how to season deer steak. It got my stomach grumbling just thinking about it. "Winter, have you told Lucy she's...you know?" Mary asks. "Oh God, no. I forgot. Danm it." I say. "Daddy, no swearing." Angel said. "Sorry sweetie." I say. "So when are you gonna tell mommy?" Angel asks. "I'll tell her tonight. I though she'd figure it out by now. Her stomach looks like a exercise ball." I say.
"Actually, I already know I am." Lucy said, walking in the living room with dinner. "When did you figure it out?" I ask. "Back in the hospital when Scarlett was about to kill you. I was still able to hear." Lucy said. "Oh." I say. "So have you thought of any names?" Mary asks. "Hmm...I'm not sure. I'm not really good with names. What about you winter?" Lucy asks. "No, not really." I say. "Well you guys better hurry up. By the looks of it, you don't have long." Mary said.
"Come on guys, let's get going." Madie said. Me, Mary, and Madie planned too go bear hunting as soon as the sun was behind the mountain. "Aww, come on Madie, you guys haven't even eaten yet." Scarlett says, walking in the living room. "We'll eat as soon as we get back. Promise." I say. I get up from the couch and go too my room and get my rifle that was already loaded. We then tell everybody goodbye. Lucy kisses and hugs me, and Scarlett does the same to Madie.
We then head out. We head up the road a ways and get off on a hill side that leads into a ravine. We walk the ridge of the ravine until we reach a large boulder. "Ok, you and Mary stay on this rock. I'm gonna go across and sit on the other side of the ridge." Madie said. "Are you sure? We won't be able to see each other." I say. "I'll be fine." He says, walking away. Madie continues walking until he's out of sight.
Me and Mary climb on top of the boulder. It was surprisingly flat on the top of it. Me and Mary sit there, staring off into the dark forest. We sit there for a while before anyone said anything. "Winter?" Mary asks. "Yeah?" I respond. "How...How are you able to stay strong through all this?" She asks. "What do you mean?" I ask. "When you lost...Molly, how did you have the will to keep going?" She asked.
"How...did you know about molly?" I ask. "You talked about her in the van that night." She said. "I don't really have a choice. When you have a family, you don't really have a choice, you have to be strong." I say, beginning to tear up. "I guess I can't be strong." Mary says, laying her head on my shoulder. "You are strong, you just don't see it yet. We all depend on you. We're a team, we wouldn't be a team without you." I say, Leaning my head on hers. We then both fall asleep.
I was dreaming about being around all the people I love. Everyone was in a nice open field. The sun was out and shinning. The sky was as blue as Lucy's hair. The birds were singing. Mary was with Macy. Angel was with Lucy. Scarlett was with Madie. It was perfect. I then awake to the night sky. The moon was full and bright. The wind was also blowing a fair bit. The trees were creaking back and forth.
I look down in my lap and see Marys head, sleeping in it. I look up at the moon again. The moon was very high up above the mountains. "It's really late." I say to myself. I attempt to wake up Macy by poking her on the shoulder, but to no success. Finally, Madie comes back. "Did you guys even see anything?" He asks. "Not a thing. It's almost like the entire forest was asleep." I say. "Yeah, I haven't seen anything out here. We should get going and go back too the house. Do you want me to carry her?" Madie asks.
"I got her." I say. I pick her up to where her arms are around my neck and I'm piggy backing her, I then grab and carry her legs in my arms. We head are way down the trail. We make it back to the house. Surprisingly, Macy was still asleep. As we were walking up too the steps of the front door, we hear a loud scream come from inside.
"Madie quick! Go too the back of the house and go in through the bathroom window. Ill bust through here!" I say. "Got it!" He said, going too the back of the house. Mary hops off my back and readies her pistol. "Winter, what's going on?" She asked. "Just get ready to shoot." I say. I bust through the front door. I rush inside to see Lucy, on the floor with Scarlett in front of her.
"What's going on?!?" I yell. "It's time winter! The baby's coming! Now get down here and help me!!!" Scarlett screams. I go too Lucy and begin helping. Lucy's legs were propped open on with two chairs. Madie finally comes through the kitchen and sees me and Scarlett. "Oh my god! Here it comes!" Scarlett said. Lucy was screaming so loud, it could attract every black out in the area.
I see the top of the head of the baby. It had a full head of black hair. I took Scarlett's place and began helping Lucy get the baby out. After about 10 minutes of pushing, screaming, and bleeding, the baby was fully out. "Let me see it winter, I know what to do." Madie said. I hand Madie the baby and he lays it down on the kitchen table. He takes a pair of scissors and snips the cord off on the baby's belly button.
He then cleans it off and begins checking it's breathing and pulses. After a minute, he wraps the baby in a grey blanket and gives the baby to me. "Congratulations, you now have a perfectly healthy baby girl." Madie said. I take her and look at her. "God, I've got another baby girl." I say. "Let me see her winter." Lucy said. I hand the baby over to Lucy. Lucy looks at her, and smiles the biggest smile you could ever imagine. She then looks up at me.
"Winter, what should we name her?" Lucy asks. When she asked me that, the millions of things pushing through my mind vanished. One name was in my head that would be perfect for my baby. "Yui." I say. Lucy looks at me, and then the baby. "Yui, are little girl yui." Lucy says. "Yui is an amazing name!" Scarlett said. Angel, who was sitting with Mary, was jumping with joy.
"Yui it is then!" Lucy said with a cheerful laugh. "Since Scarlett is my sister, she and Madie can be Yui and Angels aunt and uncle." Lucy said. "Awesome!" Scarlett and Madie said. I turn around and look at Mary. "Mary is like a sister to me. So now Angel and Yui have two aunts. Mary jumps with joy and hugs me. "Thank you so much winter! This is most certainly your day! You and Lucy both!" Mary said. "No, this day, belongs to yui. this is Yui's day.
