The scientist held his notebook, clutching it against his chest. He had been studying a rainforest that nobody had ever seen. This place had animals and plants that most could only dream of. A jaguar like wildcat that stood four feet tall, and lizards that fly, flowers that change color, and plants like venus flytraps with tiny vines inside to grab insects. If he told anyone that he had seen this they would laugh in his face, call him a poser. Scientists are still discovering new animals, some are still lacking names, but an entire rainforest, nobody thought about that anymore. But there he stood, in the middle of the jungle in the depths of South America with a notebook full of field notes and a camera full of photos. He was too busy worrying about what other scientists would say that he didn't notice the low growl coming from something behind him. Before he could react five inch claws of a gigantic cat sunk into his back, and teeth longer than his ring finger sliced into his shoulder. His camera was crushed and his notes flew in all directions, but most ended up in the nearby river. His work had come to an end.
