Chris couldn't believe his parents finally let his two best friends go with him on there trip to Brazil. He goes on this trip every few years and they always love it. They do all of the things one would expect they would do on a vacation to a tropical paradise, everything but going to the beach. This was explained simply by the fact that they stay very far from the ocean. Instead they stay at a resort where most of the workers know his family personally. At the resort they often, if not every time, swim at the resort, eat out almost every night. Then they would go on a guided nature walk. They would walk around with a guide and look at what nature had to offer. Usually they just saw a few macaws or maybe a monkey or two. On the other hand when Chris was four he swore he saw a jaguar in a tree. His parents told him it was just a monkey or a rat, maybe a python, not the elusive big cat. Either way he always had fun, and almost always saw something new. Then after they went halfway through the jungle they would take a swim in the river. All in all this was the highlight of his summer, as long as this summer was within the year that they took it. His family, although they had a lot of money, still could only go once every two years.

Every time they went on this trip he would ask nicely, that or beg, if his friends could go with him. When he did this they would always say no, that or some half-sympathetic version that only made him mad. That went on until they finally said yes. The friends he was going to bring were named Randal and Christine.

There was one thing about Randal though. He was a nerd. In fact if he were any more of one he would have taped glasses and pocket protectors. He would randomly spurt out useless facts and always carry an encyclopedia with him. He brings one to school and everything, it's odd.

Christine on the other hand was cool. She did have a sort of down side though. She was obsessed with safety. She once brought a first-aid kit, equipped with a tiny working defibrillator, with her on a field trip, to an art museum. She would wash her hands after touching basically anything and never strayed far from a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer.

Either way he was happy to be hanging out with them for the vacation and sat on his bed looking at the things he was going to bring. He had his clothing, sunscreen, swimming trunks, binoculars, camera, hiking, backpack, toothbrush, and a few other things. He had his suit case nearby and he was leaving the next day. This was going to be the best vacation ever.
