Chapter 4:

*Lukan's POV*

I was woken up suddenly by Kreig and he started yelling about how I was supposed to be waking him up, not vice versa, I ignored it and started to get dressed for the day, this time khakis and a red polo shirt.

We were on the road doing that same routine, or some variation of it, for about a week before we finally arrived at the new house. Of course, being him, Kreig went in immediately to connect to the WiFi on his phone, leaving my sister and I to grab all the important stuff we can't go without for the night and lug it inside, meaning mainly me. After my sister and I finish with that, Kreig announces' "Ya'll best get back in tha' there truck if y'all wan' dinner. We gon' go to a joint in town called Mill Creek Cafe an' we gon' try it ou'."

We get there after another half hour and I notice the other furs there, ignoring Kreig's insistence to not look at them. I see a few groups: a mother fox with her little cubs and what seemed to be her father, a doberman that seemed to be very drunk because he was trying to 'coerce' the waitress, as well as a few other groups of furs that I don't feel like saying. After a moment a tall blue and black wolf walked over and asked us what we wanted to drink, then left after I ordered hot tea and Kreig and Weiren ordered Dr. Pepper, eww.

1/2 hour

The waitress returns with our drinks and my family is finally ready to order, while I have been for awhile now. Kreig orders a 16oz New York strip with shrimp, Wieren orders an 8oz sirloin with shrimp, and I order a caesar salad with caesar dressing on it and assorted steamed vegetables on the side. The waitress nods and walks off with our order, coming back out again with it after about another half hour.

2 hours

We arrive back at the house later and Wieren and I actually went into the kitchen to see if our mother, Kaitlyn, was home. She wasn't, but we did find 3 books on the counter: Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Juny B. First Grader, and the first part of the Drizzt trilogy. Wieren opened the Juny B. First Grader one and found a note from our mother saying the book was for her, she looked disgusted and laid the book back on the counter as though it was a vile thing she was holding. I picked up the Magnus Chase book and found a very similar note, this time saying that this book was for me, I smiled brightly and gestured for Wieren to go get Kreig and then I held the book close as some might do to a new friend, which is what books are to me, they are my friends when no one else wants to be. Krieg walks in and sees the books, I hand him the Drizzt book, the only one we had not opened, assuming it was his, he found the same note addressed to him, and then looked even more disgusted than Wieren, "She oughta know I don' read," he said, then made a basketball shot to the rubbish bit in the corner, while I looked absolutely horrified at their behavior. I grabbed all three books and went to my room after saying, "Night," and put the books on the bookshelf I had found it my room, and I set my bed up and went to sleep, knowing that I would have to wake up to him yelling again, and cried myself to sleep quietly, thinking also about Farie, my girlfriend who I had left behind.
