I looked at myself in the mirror and I was happy with my appearance.  I straightened my hair and re-applied more makeup. I had a nice flower dress on that I felt uncomfortable in but it’s to make Alex like me more and I guess that’s a good thing right? Because he likes it and speaks to me more. I was going on a date with Josh as just friends as I don’t want to be any more than that. Yes, he’s attractive but I don’t like him like that but then again, am I just going on a date with him just to make Alex jealous? Someone knocked on my door and it opened to see Alex smiling, grinning more like. He looked at me and widened my eyes at him. “What? Is it something bad?” I asked him as he looked back at my eyes and shook his head.

“You look beautiful,” he said and I blushed that he said that.

“Thank you, so what are you doing here?” I asked him and he shook his head before looking back at my eyes as the slowly travelled back down my body.

“I uh wanted to wish you good luck for today,” he smiled.

“Thanks but now it’s not a good time because-“ the doorbell went off signalling that Josh must be here. “He’s here.” I said and he followed me downstairs until I saw my dad speaking to Josh.

“Carly there’s a boy at the door for you!” he shouted even though I was already there.

“I know dad, I’m right here.” I said and he looked at me smiling.

“Now you treat my girl right for today okay?” he said to Josh and he gulped nodding his head. Alex must’ve awkwardly walked out of the situation because he wasn’t beside us and soon we left my protective dad and started walking towards the city.

“You look really nice today Carly,” Josh complimented.

“Thanks you’re not too shabby yourself,” I winked as he chuckled looking down to the ground.

“Thanks, you wanting to get something to eat?” he asked and I nodded my head as we walked somewhere nice until he found a table and sitting down looking at the menus. On the way there he kept tickling with my fingers until I realised that he wanted to hold my hands. I blushed at the memory being stupid and frigid.

We ate something and walked back outside with our hands intertwined and we sat near the fountain and I smiled at the nice day it was. We got an ice cream by the cart beside the cart so I was licking my vanilla cone as he had mint. We were laughing at random things and it was nice to be in his company. “So, what made you come to Baltimore then?” I asked him changing the subject and he adjusted his position.

“My mum and dad weren’t getting along so my mum and I live here,” he said quietly and I felt bad for him but then I know how he felt.

“My mum left me and my younger brother when he was just a baby but thankfully my dad is re-married to my step-mum which is a bitch because she’s only with him for the money but also not a bitch because she cares for us while my dad is hardly ever home but he was home today…” I trailed off and he nodded his head.

“You’re dad seem…nice,” he chuckled and I giggled. “Least you see your dad though, I miss him a lot but I get along more with my mum than my dad so that’s why I came with her,” he said.

“Least you’ve made friends,” I said.

“Exactly, I didn’t have much friends at my old school but I like you and the guys,” he smiled and I smiled back. “So you have something on your nose…” he said and moved closer to me and I looked at him strangely but then I felt something cold until I noticed that he planted his ice cream on my nose and I got it off before I stabbed my ice cream on his cheek and I laughed before we were playing near the fountain until SPLASH! We fell into the water. I jolted back up shivering at how cold it was but was laughing at how funny it was. Josh moved back up into the air and laughed too and quickly got out as we laughed more sitting on a bench away from the fountain.  We recovered from our laughing fits and he moved a strand of my now frizzy hair and moved it behind my ear and cupped my cheek and this was Alex was teaching me yesterday. But I thought for a minute, do I want to kiss Josh? But before I could do anything I already had my eyes closed and I could feel his breath near mine but then someone shouted our names. We moved back from each other and I saw Jack waving around for us. I glared at him as he walked towards us. Josh looked at me but I didn’t care.

“Hey J-Mr Barakat, what are you doing here?” I asked him.

“Well I was just walking round and saw you guys so I came over to say hi, Hi guys,” he chuckled and I looked at him weirdly.

“Are you drunk?” I asked him but he shook his head but he was. “Mr Barakat please go home,” I said but he was moving.

“Mr Barakat.” I pleaded to leave us alone and thankfully he walked away.

“Use a condom!” he shouted and I blushed and I looked at Josh as he chuckled.

“I’ve never seen a teacher drunk before.” he said and I laughed.

He walked me home and I was already at the bottom of the path towards the house and I turned to look at him. “Well thank you walking me home, today was great,” I smiled.

“No problem and it was fun, we should do it more often,” he said and I nodded my head. He awkwardly scratched the back of his neck and looked at me nervously. “I heard there’s going to be a party at Alex girlfriend’s house and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?” he asked and I nodded my head smiling.

“Sure. Well I’ve got to go now but I’ll see you on Monday,” I smiled and he looked at me as he looked like he was going to do something but then ignored it.

“Bye Carly goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” I said and walked into the house after waving Josh off goodbye.
