Stefan had come home from being at Klaus's place. Damon was at Whitmore College teaching Elena how to feed. When Damon came home that night, Stefan told him about their sister.

"Eira's with Klaus," Stefan answered.

"You didn't try to bring her back?" Damon questioned.

Stefan sighed,"She left to go to Italy with him."

"She what? And you just let her go?" Damon asked in disbelief.

"She hates us, Damon, and she has a right to. We lied to her. The only person she wants to be around is Klaus," Stefan left Damon to ponder that answer.

It was the next day in the morning in Mystic Falls. Eira was now in Italy with Klaus where it was nightfall. She was standing off to the side of the excavation site where they were digging up the sword. Rebekah had called earlier saying that the hunter escaped and killed one his hybrids, taking its head with him.

Stefan was writing in his journal:

Even with her memory loss, she still stands at Klaus's side. It is my fault because I lied. I don't deserve her forgiveness but I'll reach for it, anyway. So, I'll help Klaus get the cure because that's what she would do: help Klaus. No matter what Klaus asks, no matter what lies I have to tell or secrets I have to keep, I'll do it. No matter what it takes to earn her forgiveness.

Stefan then received a text from Klaus saying that they had a problem. He went to the Mikaelson house where a decapitated hybrid lay on the floor. Rebekah was in the room.

Stefan squatted down next to the hybrid, noticing that the hunter took its head. Stefan looked up at Rebekah,"You didn't notice that he was trying to escape?"

"I was sleeping. Don't be judgmental," Rebekah replied. Stefan looked away and pulled out his phone, calling Klaus.

"How the hell did Connor escape?" Stefan asked.

"I'd blame my numbing incompetence, but pointing fingers isn't going to help me, you're going to help me," Klaus said.

"Well, he could be anywhere now," Stefan stated.

"Think, Stefan. He took the hybrid's head which means he wants werewolf toxin," Klaus revealed.

"Which means he plans to stay in Mystic Falls to kill vampires," Stefan realized.

"Which is a pity, as your sister and I are half the world away digging up a dead hunter, you'll have no access to our blood and therefore, the antidote. Nevertheless, his tattoo is our only map to the cure, so your task is quite simple; find him, catch him, and above all, keep him alive. He's no good to us dead," Klaus ordered.

"Damon's been looking everywhere for him, if they cross paths...," Stefan trailed off.

"You'll need to keep Damon in check," Klaus demanded.

"Be a lot easier if I could just tell him the truth," Stefan suggested.

"You trust Damon with the cure? I imagine he prefers Elena the way she is," Klaus thought.

"Nice try, Klaus. But I trust Damon a hell of a lot more than I trust you," Stefan stated.

"And I trust no one but my sister and Eira. The more who find out about the cure, the more who will go after it. Nations have gone to war over less. You mark my words, tell one soul and I will throw the hunter's sword in the Mediterranean and we can end this quest right now. Am I understood?" Klaus said.
