Robyn POV
I walk down the corridor, nervous of where I'm going. It's been a few days since I've seen these boys as I wasn't on the train with them on the way here. We had to get split up so it didn't look like we were coming together.
I'm glad my roommates look nice. Well at least 2 of them do. The others I might want to stay away from. When the scientists said I was going to go to a school, they also told me later on that I won't be able to choose who I'm with in my dorm. I guess I got quite lucky with the people in my dorm then.
I look down at the crumbled piece of paper in my hand. On it, it has the letters CO. I got given this when I was about to get on the train on the way here.
*Flash Back*
"Now Robyn, don't you dare lose this. This is where your brothers will be staying. If you lose it, you won't know where they are and you won't able to have meetings with them." The male scientist looks at me while handing me the piece of paper.
"And don't forget it! If you fail this mission you won't be ever allowed to be away from us and you only be fed rice and beans for the rest of your life. Do you understand?" The woman yells at me. A few parents look at us feeling sorry for me. But I would never accept these people as my parents.
I get onto the train and look through the window at them. They wave to me but with a straight face. As the train starts to move I yell out, "I've been eating rice and beans for my whole life anyway! And I'm not going to miss it!"
Everyone else who was waving to their children gasps at the scientists. They're now the main center of attention in the room as the train leaves the station.
*End of flashback*
I smile to myself as I remember. They might kill me for what I did but if I carry on with this mission, I would die anyway so what's the point.
Eventually, I arrive at the door and I knock on the wood. It immediately opens to one of the brothers. He glares at me without saying a word and then pushes me into the room. I fall onto the floor and I hear the door slam behind me.
"A nice hello would've been nice," I grumble as I get up from the floor. Both of the brothers are now looking at me, not impressed with my remark. I sigh and let them say what they want to say.
"We have got important information from the school that there will be a competition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the school. Every person in the school has to go, whether they've been at the school for a short time or not." The brother who opened the door says.
I haven't been told their names and I don't plan to learn them. They don't mean anything to me anyway. "Yea and?" I ask and they both look at me, dead in the eye. The one on the bed gets up and grabs me by the arm. He pulls down my sleeve revealing my tattoo that the Scientists gave me. I now remember what we have to do.
"You have to let the Scientists know when to strike. They will be at a secret location during the competition but when it gets to the dance part when everyone will be watching they will attack." He lets go of my arm and I rub the place where he grabbed me.
"And what if I don't? It's not like I want to kill everyone at this school." I say, putting my hands on my hips.
"If you don't, we will kill you ourselves. The reason why we can't be there to give the signal is because we will be far away from the competition, so WE don't get killed." They say and I glare at them.
I walk out the room, fed up of the conversation. If only there was a way to get out of my situation. If there was, I would take it. But I guess the only way out is death.
*THE NEXT DAY IN ASSEMBLY*
Clovers POV
"What do you think the assembly is about Clover?" Olive asks me as we sit down on the hard chairs. Today, all of our classes got canceled for a big thing that is happening today. No one knows what it is.
"I don't know. Maybe our headteacher is retiring?" I cross my fingers and we both laugh. Suddenly the room goes silent and no talking is heard. This is a warning that the Head Teacher is coming in.
And right on cue, the sound of high heels hitting the floor echoed through the room and the skinny, tall woman walks in. People watch her as she makes her way down the middle of the room. Every single eye in the room watches her.
She stops walking when she gets to the front of the room and turns around to face us. Her eyes scan the room. "Thank you for coming to assembly today. It is our 50th anniversary of the school and we will be holding a competition day."
Everyone starts to chat about what she just said. I watch her get frustrated.
"QUIET!" She yells and the hall goes silent again. "You have to participate in at least one competition and it doesn't have to be based on your powers. If you don't participate, you will have to do school work for the day."
I think about what competition I could do. There are quite a few things a vampire can do. Speed, Hearing, Smell. The list could go on forever.
"Outside there will be sheets of what competition you can do. You must sign your name and then leave so it doesn't get overcrowded. Then you must go back to your dorms and in a few hours, your costumes for that competition will be delivered to you."
My eyes light up at the word costume. I would love to have my own, unique costume to wear and stand out from everyone else.
"On your costume. you are allowed to sew things onto it such as your name. The textiles area will be waiting for your arrival. Then tomorrow, the competition will start." She says and walks out of the hall.
Once she has gone, everyone starts to talk again about the competition. I turn to Olive and she's glowing. "What competition will you be doing Olive?" I ask her.
"Probably swimming if there is one. The will be one though because we have a swimming pool at this school." I turn my head back to the front and a nervous teacher stands there.
"Excuse me! If you could all leave in an orderly fashion, no one will be hurt in trying to get their name down." But no one listens and everyone runs to the door. I grab Olive's hand so I can't lose her and get up.
We follow the crowd towards the sheets outside and eventually we make it. I look towards the sheets and see a competition for Hearing. I walk straight towards it and sign my name. Only a few people had signed their name already.
I walk away from the crowd and wait for Olive to come out. After a while, she does with Robyn trailing behind her. They walk up to me and we go back to our dorm.
"What did you guys sign up for?" I ask.
"I signed up for Swimming. Thankfully they had a competition for it or I wouldn't have been able to do anything else." She smiles.
"I signed up for dancing. I really liked doing it when I was younger." Robyn says. "But I can't wait to get our costumes! I'm going to make mine look really pretty!"
"Same! Let's work on ours together!"
