Clover's POV
*The next day, Competition Day!*
Everyone stands in the hall nervously waiting for our next command on what to do next. Today is the big day that everyone was waiting for.
Competition Day. I could barely sleep last night I was so nervous. I would sit up in my bed and stare at my costume on the floor. I tried to make it as perfect as I could with a little help from Olive at points.
"You ok Clover?" I hear Olive ask me. She was wearing a light blue robe that they gave around to the people who were doing swimming. She shivers slightly.
"Yea. My competition isn't until 2 pm so I've got long to wait! When's yours?" I ask and she looks at the writing on her hand.
"I think mine is 12 so I'm one of the first people performing. But if I keep my mums tactic in my mind then I should be fine." She smiles but its only a small one. I can hear the worry in her voice. Both for herself and for me.
The hall goes silent at the sound of high heeled boots hitting against the floor, which is the head teacher's signature sound to let everyone know that she is arriving into the room. We make a pathway in the middle of the room and she walks down it.
Every single eye in the room follows her as she makes her way to the front. A bell is now placed there not like yesterday and there are many sheets of papers with competition timetables stuck to the walls of the hall.
"Morning everyone. I hope you are all very excited for the upcoming day. May I wish you the best of luck in all your competitions." She says in a straight voice and then grabs the string that is coming from inside of the bell.
She rings it and everyone cheers and a break of talking starts. The Head Teacher doesn't seem that bothered by it and I even see a little smile from her. I turn to Olive and she's bouncing up and down with excitement.
"The first competitions are Shooting, Burning, and Swimming!" The head teacher reads out from a piece of paper that she is holding. Olive suddenly goes white when she realises that she will be the first person performing.
I grab her wrist and she looks up at me. "You'll do fine Olive. Is it still up there?" I ask her and she nods. We walk up to the front and look at the first piece of paper that had about the Swimming on it. For location, it said, outside of the school, in the swimming center.
We head towards there and spot Rebecca on the way. " Hey, Rebecca!" I shout to her as she walks alone to the venue. She looks up and a smile appears on her face. She walks over to us.
"Hey, guys. Are you heading towards the swimming competition!" She asks us and we nod our heads.
"Yea! Where's Tiffany and Mia?" I ask her and her smile disappears. She looks towards the main hall where we just came from.
"Oh Tiffany has her Blinding Competition before mine but she wants to greet her fans after so she can't come and watch my swimming and then Mia has to help Tiffany hand out her autographs," Mia says sadly and I put my arm around her.
"You can come and hang out with us Rebecca! We'll cheer you on as well won't we?" I say and look at Robyn who is trailing behind us. She looks very nervous herself but she manages to break out a smile to agree with me.
"Thanks, guys," Rebecca says and we eventually reach the Swimming pool. Thankfully it is inside or the swimmers would get hyperthermia. Many people are there already, warming up, waiting for it to start.
"I guess I'll see you guys after the race!" Olive says, fiddling with her fingers.
"You'll do amazing! Remember what your mum told you!" I call to her as she walks off with Rebecca to join the other swimmers. Robyn joins besides me and we sit in the stall to watch Rebecca and Olive do their race.
5 minutes later, the girls take their places in the swimming pool. I watch Olive test out her water powers above the Swimming pool. She looks at her hands nervously but then I see her attitude change.
"Come on Olive!" I shout to her and she looks up at me. Then the room goes quite when a man holds up a gun to symbolise the start of the race.
"ON YOUR MARKS. GET SET." The man shouts and I keep my eyes on Olive, anxious to see what she will do next.
"GO!!!" The man shouts and they start swimming. Olive uses her powers to push herself against the wall and she takes the lead above everyone else. I cheer her on along with Robyn.
I then notice what Rebecca is doing. She freezes the water, cold enough to make the other swimmers cold but warm enough that it doesn't freeze the water completely that she would be disqualified.
"Robyn, do you see what Rebecca's tactic is? She's freezing the water to make the other swimmers not swim at their best as they'll be too cold but she's best when she's cold so she will go faster." I say and Robyn gasps as she realises.
I notice that Olive and along with other swimmers are slowing down due to the cold while Rebecca is getting faster. Eventually, the last lap comes and its neck and neck between Olive and Rebecca.
I can see Olive struggling slightly but she carries on going. I suddenly see a dark blue stream coming from her hands and she goes faster than Rebecca and then they reach the end.
"Olive comes in 1st! With Rebecca in 2nd! And then Sylia in 3rd! Well done to all of our competitors!" The man with the gun says and everyone gets out the swimming pool to dry off.
"Let's go meet them!" Robyn says and we get down from the stalls and run up to her. She shivers while Rebecca stands there out of breath.
"Guys you did amazing!" We say and Olive smiles slightly. Rebecca comes up to us.
"W-why d-did the Sw-swimming pool g-get so c-cold?" She says between shivers. Rebecca puts her hand behind her head and smiles.
"It was Rebecca. She swims better in cold water so she froze the swimming pool." I say and Olive turns to her, her eyes shining.
"That is an amazing tactic! You defiantly slowed me down!" Olive says.
"Well, you're the one who won! Well done!" Rebecca claps her hands.
"OK! Next, we have Clover's competition! Let's go!" Olive shouts and we leave.

Hey! This chapter is a bit boring and I didn't have any energy to write. But in other news, I will be taking a two-week break from writing to plan my new book, Powers Colliding which will be the sequel to Hands OF Fire!
