The village looked lively. There was little fog,and no walkers to be seen. There were even a few villagers. They hid in their houses, and they set up barricades around each and every corner of their houses. If you looked close enough, you would see them quickly moving about inside their houses from their windows.Zoe had her bow loaded,as she slowly walked further into the village.

She walked in front of a poorly barricaded house. She kicked the board that kept the weak wall together,as she stepped up to the door and casually knocked. An elderly man opened the door.

He had a tangled, brown beard. It had grey colour spread into it.He wore a ripped camoflauge hat,so you couldn't tell if he was bald or not.His face was wrinkled, a sign of his old age.He was thinner than Zoe herself. All was just skin and bone. The man was short, short enough to where Zoe had to tip her head to face his eyes, and he had to tip his head up to face hers.

"Walker?",The man said,his voice weak.He coughed,holding a shotgun.

"Sir,I wouldn't have knocked if I was a walker," Zoe said,"You would've been dead by now."

The man have Zoe a suspicious look, taking out a cigarette as he lit it up and put it in his mouth.

"What are you doing here?" The man said.

Zoe replied,"Walkers are coming. The noise can't be heard from here yet,but it's heard in the distance if you go a few miles back into the forest.Have any abandoned stores?"

"Why do you need an abandoned store?"

"For shelter,sir."

The man coughed before he spoke,"Shelter?Stay here with me.I have shelter and food."

Zoe thought for a moment."Oh," she said,"I couldn't bring that burden on you, sir.I'm not alone."

"How many?"

"Including myself,five."

The man took out his cigarette and blew out a puff of smoke. He looked to the girl, thinking."Five?I can deal with five.Go get them.",he said.

"No,I couldn't bring that burden-"

"Go get them."

The man smiled, and Zoe smiled back at him in return. She nodded, and ran back to the forest brush opening. She saw Max from a distance.Slightly angered, she came back and hit his shoulder.

"Dumbass!",she said,"I could see you from back there!A walker could've spotted you!! Anybody could've!"

She calmed herself,as Max apologized.

"Ok,"she started,"Good news.An elderly man offered to shelter us and give us food.I'll pay him soon enough, but for now he's refusing payment.Come on."

"Wait," Abbey hesitated,"How do we know we can trust this guy?"

Sierra smirked towards Abbey."We don't.",she said.

The group walked into the house. It smelled of smoke and beans. The elderly man made his way to the chair on the other end of the house.

"I never got your names." The man said.

Sierra introduced everybody."I'm Sierra," she said,"The one you first met was Zoe.The girl with the blonde hair is Abbey,The man with brown hair is Max,and the man with black hair is Alec."

"Nice to meet you all,"the man said,"my names Haymus."

The group all found a seat except for Alec.He was occupied by the doors and windows, thinking of how the group can keep the zombies out.

"What's got your tongue,Alex?" Haymus said.

"Nothing," Alec said,"and the names Alec. How do you plan to keep the doors and windows barricaded?"
