Home.

Even though the village was foggy and broken, it was still comforting and safe to Sierra and Zoe. Max had finally caught up with them.Max wasn't as close to the village as Zoe and Sierra were,so all this means to him was a major Déjà Vu moment.

The rope kept slowly wearing that connected Mason to Zoe's grasp.Zoe usually kept a good handle of it, but it was wearing and she was sure she'd find another rope around the village somewhere. Sierra was speechless. Her and Zoe just stared in the distance of the place they once called home. Max turned his head, his eyes now fixed on Zoe but his eyebrows bent in, suspicious towards Mason. He thrashed around and is clawing at the rope that wrapped his neck. Then, it happened.

Max's eyes widened, as he held his breath at the moment. The wrenching noise made Sierra turned around, choking on a shriek.

Mason had bit Zoe's neck.

Zoe didn't even make a noise, however. She just let her body be held by the creature with his zombified poisonous teeth latched to her neck. Max quickly took action, and lunged at Mason, pulling him off of Zoe, his force so strong it shoved him to the ground, and falling to his knees, catching Zoe in his arms. Sierra stood there in shock, her eyes widened and body stiff.

"No! No, no, no! Zoe! Shit, Zoe, please!", Max screamed, nearly in tears. Zoe just looked at Max, her eyes nearly shut. Max was shaking her, his own body trembling too.Max was too focused to see what Zoe was doing, but she slowly pulled out a small, but sharp pocket knife. She gripped it with what little strength she could manage, and looked to Sierra.

"Keep...moving..", Zoe managed to say to her. She then looked to Max, who had tears slowly streaming down his pale face. Zoe held her breath, and sent the pocket knife into his chest. His sobbing stopped, as he looked down to see Zoe's hand holding the knife thrusted into him.

"I..trusted..you..", Zoe whispered as she took her last breath, and shut her eyes, a single tear streaming down her cheek as she did so. Sierra covered her mouth with her palms, her eyes squinted, trying to swallow the tears trying to push out of her.Max started slowly suffocating, weakening to the point where he can't even pull the knife out of his chest.

Sierra lifted Zoe's body off of Max, Max falling to his side. She then turned her body around, not her head however, and saw the desperate look in Max's eyes for help.

"Keep...moving..", Zoe's voice echoed in Sierra's head. With a stern but regretful look, Sierra turned her head and walked on to find Zoe's house, leaving Max to die.

Sierra approached the little green house and went up the white painted, but chipped porch stairs. She didn't want to bury Zoe, she couldn't bring herself to do that. She wanted to put her in a place of peace, though. She turned into Zoe's bedroom, where her ruffled sheets and pillows lay. Sierra teared up,thinking that she won't ever be able to see her ever again. She won't ever be able to see Zoe's laughing face, throwing pillows at her and playing video games with her. She's lost so many people. Alec, Abbey, and even Max was somewhat important in a way. But Zoe and her were so close.

Sierra gently set Zoe's body on the bed, laying her head onto the pillow. She then covered her with her sheets, slowly.

"Goodbye, Zo.", Sierra whispered into Zoe's ear as she covered her face with the sheet. She then started to walk away, but ended up stopping at the doorway, looking back at the covered up body of her best friend. Wiping her eyes from the falling tear, she walked out of Zoe's house, Zoe hopefully at peace.
