I couldn't see as I finally came back to my senses, only gradually. It took me seconds to come to the most horrifying realization, that within weeks I had given up my life and within a minute lost the remaining person by my side.

And to think of the fact that I still missed him, despite of what he did, instead of despising him with my guts made my head spin and throb severely and unbearably.

I couldn't breathe as I ultimately comprehended the situation I was stuck in. It took me seconds to let out the first tears that burned down my dry skin, like the handcuffs burned themselves into my wrists. I was pinned to some kind of pillar in a gloomy, dark room, the faint laughter of men carried through the musty air. There was a small window with bars that would prevent me from escaping, if I ever came to free myself from the metal around my hands, illuminating the room with little light.

For a second I thought I saw a glint of light at the window, a shadow passing and leaves near crushing noisily under the sole of heavy boots. I thought I saw a person passing, hope spreading its wings above my head for only a split moment before the lock of the door clicked and the door opened in one, swift movement.
