I looked at Elena. Not a lot of things changed about her. She still had her joyful personality and contagious smile. Her long brown hair stayed the same length and volume. But her eyes. Something about her eyes changed.
She may be smiling.
But her eyes aren't.

Chapter 3
P.E.
I hate this class.
Sweaty, muscular, shirtless show-offs struck around in their rip-off Jordans while girls wearing full on make-up and booty shorts gawk at them pass by. Mentally barfing. I enjoyed the fitness and the activities we play but the people never try so it's never as fun as I always hoped it would be. I try my hardest because I love basketball. I mean the Toronto Raptors are my favourite team and I keep up with their every move and game. I don't just enjoy basketball, I like other sports like hockey, rugby and soccer. Yeah, I'm kind of a tomboy. The times for P.E. was usually super confusing as well. If we had fitness one day, the next day, we would play a sport, then the next day, we played an activity. The cycle usually continued and then we had options usually around once a month. It was a hard routine to follow. The teachers weren't much of a party either.
Mrs. Phillips was a nice lady who rode her motorcycle to school almost every day and we could practically hear her heading into the parking lot because her engine was so loud. She had long Auburn hair and outgoing hazel eyes. She had a playful personality as her attitude as she would join in on some of our activities during our P.E. times. Mrs. Phillips was also a part time foods teacher as the school was saving up some money as well.
Mr. Anderson wasn't my favourite teacher. He had a cocky attitude and only bantered with the popular kids. All of the other students who were more quiet or were not noticed that much were ignored by him and were given a grade he thought they deserved. Meaning the skinnier, more fit looking kids got good grades and the heavier kids got a lower mark. Anderson had a buzz cut kind of hair-cut and slight side burns. His skin was darker than the other teachers and his eyes were a black colour. He was cocky, intimidating and discriminating. Again, not my favourite teacher.
Mr. Vaux was a much kinder teacher. He was lean and well-built. He knew what he was teaching. His personality was playful with a few banters here and there and he had the voice of a dictator: commanding and motivating. Mr. Vaux never really talked about his life at home and didn't really leave the school until late at night. I had been studying in the hub one night when I saw him leave as the last few sets of lights were still on. He also came to school a lot earlier than any other teachers. He was usually one of the first to get here. I never really gave it much thought. Maybe he really likes this school?
Last and definitely the least out of all (if you can't tell, I think she's awful) Mrs. Myle. Even thinking about that witch gives me shivers. I mean it that she's a witch. With a capital B. Her white frail hair looks like it's gone through four tornado's and a sandstorm, her eyes were beady little balls and she had a mouth that was always scowling. She looked way over the age to retire, her skin looked like it was too tired to even cling on to her. Honestly, she's just way too old to teach P.E. That woman has the worst attitude out of any other person I know. She's way too hard on her students and she's way more discriminating than Mr. Anderson. The difference is, she actually tells her students. If he/she looks even a little over-weight, they're put down. Just get hit by a bus, grandma.
My eyes scanned the large gymnasium as students piled in one by one. It was fourth block and I couldn't wait until the day was done and over. My mind repeated to the memory of meeting Elena. She was so different. First of all, she actually talked to me. People here pass me by and don't really give a care in the world. But she didn't ignore me. It did kind of made sense to me that she was new. Her eyes were a sad sight to see. She was so happy the first time I met her. But discovering her past, I couldn't look at her the same way I did when we met. Just like Elena's backpack, I had to twiddle my fingers around to stop myself from grabbing onto everyone's belongings.
People passed me with bright saturated items, begging for me to touch them, some people had poorly coloured items. Meaning they had no important memory but it was tiring me just thinking about it. This one girl passed me with a very bland long sleeve. One of the sleeves was a shade dimmer than the rest of her shirt, knowing it was a bland memory. But I was curious anyway. I had bumped into her accidentally and thus, I transported back to a memory.

Present day"Maggie, come here. You need to eat your breakfast."
A small blonde Retriever bounced around the kitchen as the girl wearing the exact same long sleeve sighed in annoyance. Seemed like this didn't happen too long ago.
"Maggie, sit."
The dog obeyed as it sat down with a plop.
"Good girl."
As she got up and put on her coat, her dog whimpered and tried to block her way to the door. The girl took her collar as she pushed her dog away. The dog whined.
"Not now, Maggie, I'm going to be late for school."
She turned the doorknob and Maggie barked. But that didn't faze the girl as she continued out the door, slamming it behind her. The dogs tail slowly stopped wagging as she put her head down on her paws. The sound of her whimpering filled the room.

As the memory died down, I looked to the girls long sleeve. It was black and her dogs colour was blonde. In the faintest of light, I found a few dog hairs on that sleeve. Explains why that's the only part of her shirt glowing. I crossed my arms on my chest as I leaned back on the wall. I stared into space deep in thought as I heard my teacher call out his class and the rest of us ran to the side of the gym.
The classes soon began to form and it was only the teachers talking now. Mr. Moore and Mrs. Myles went outside to take attendance as I stayed in here with my class and Mrs. Phillips. As she took attendance, we heard a voice from behind us.
"Hello, is this Mrs. Phillips gym class?"
