I never experienced shopping with a friend or gossiping with a group, going out on Friday nights or having a slumber party.

Friend. So foreign, but I hear it everyday. I never grew up with one. But now, I get a chance too.

Chapter 6

I held out my morning hot chocolate as I made my way to school. It was a cold and chilly November day as my scarf hung loosely over my shoulder, blowing with the wind. Of course, denying the point that Tristan still scared the crap out of me, won't help me find out what this kid is getting into. If I could try to get close to him a little bit, he could spill about this sort of "mission" he's on. The guy he talked to seemed to suggest me as he laid out almost every single detail about me. I have a bad feeling about him.

It wasn't long before I came to the front doors to the school and entered. Warm and dense air thickened around me as I sighed, finishing my cup of hot chocolate and throwing it away as I passed a nearby trash can. As I stopped at my locker, I took of my coat and hung it on the side of the door. As I gathered my books, I closed the door to see someone standing on the other side.

"Oh, hello."

He stared at me with his bright blue eyes. He was only a few lockers down, leaned against the locker with both of his hands in the pockets of his leather jackets. His attention fixated on me. His presence seemed to glow and if I was able to touch him, I could see what's so important that his presence seemed to be an entire memory. He didn't answer me and a light bulb went off in my head.

He was the same guy from across the hall in socials. A heaviness fell upon me and as I turned around, I was met with another person.

"Hey, Jenna"

Startled, I jumped.

"Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost!"

We both chuckled but her words seemed to float in the air, dawning on me. I turned around to look for him, but the guy was gone! I swear, he was here a split second ago. I turn my head to meet Elena's bubbly eyes.

"Yeah, I'm just tired this morning."

"Aren't we all?"

We proceeded to walk down the hallway and she went on about how her brothers and sisters fought about what to have for breakfast this morning. It ended with all of them having to make it since they couldn't decide. Yup, all of them. She has four sisters and five brothers. Of course I half of the sisters were blood related and her dad remarried, adding seven new siblings. Talk about a hassle. It wasn't long before the bell rang and everyone had deserted the halls to go to class.

"I'll see you at lunch, Jenna!"

"See you, Elena!"

We parted ways and I had arrived to French class with Mrs. Dickson. She was a young lady with a blonde bob cut. She was always smiling with pink cheeks and kind green eyes. Though she rarely shows her angry side, its not exactly a line you would want to cross. I sat down in a four seated table and soon the class began to fill with students.

Jedediah sat across from me. We knew each other way before high school as we went to the same church. I went to church alone because my mom never had the time to take me. My parents divorced when we were younger, dad taking all the money. Mom and I had to live in a small apartment that we still live in to this day. We've taken in an income but decided to settle until I graduated, which is in two years.

He had pale skin and big brown eyes. His spiked black hair was unruly and stuck out in all directions. He had a notorious smirk, set to make any girl who laid eyes on him, fall in love. Of course, his charms never worked on me. I knew him back when he had braces and he never wants to re live that.

Soon, this girl came in and sat down. Amy was a short and bubbly girl. Her blonde hair was always in a high ponytail and she was probably one of the best athletes in school. She was point guard on the senior girls basketball team and starting line on the volley ball team. She also played goalie on the soccer and field hockey team as well as first line on the schools ultimate team. This girl seriously needs to be in the Olympics.

Finally, the most innocent and harmless guy in the school took the seat next to me. You guessed it, Tristan. He pulled the chair next to me and sat down, turning to me and giving me a smile. I smiled back to be polite and the second bell hadn't gone off yet.

"Hey, are you okay? I didn't see you after P.E. yesterday."

I nodded my head, reassuringly.

"Yeah, it bruised a little but the colour is slowly fading."

I brushed a lock of golden hair behind my ear, revealing the bruise that had been left behind after our collision.

"Oh, well. I'm really sorry."

He patted down his shorts as Mrs. Dickson closed the door and continued the lesson.

* * * * *

"Hello?"

"Jenna? This is Kyle."

I held my breath. Why is he calling me right now? In the middle of school? This better be important.

"One of our workers called in sick and we need you."

"R-right now?"

"Mhm."

I began to panic. I can't go to work now. But I can't disobey my boss or I'm going to get fired! Alright, I'll back track. Since mom couldn't find a stable job for her to raise me well, I took to the account of finding one myself. That's right. I work at this little coffee chop called Tim Hortons up the street from my school. I never like to talk about it with anyone or want anyone finding out. Even so, they wouldn't recognize me. I bet no one in the school knows who I am except for the teachers, Tristan and Elena. I heard a booming voice shattering my hearing as Kyle speaks.

"Jenna. I don't care if your in school, come to work. Now."

He hung up the phone. I knew right there and then, if didn't show up to work in half an hour, I was going to get fired. But before I could take off out of the school, I heard an unfamiliar voice causing me to stop.

"Jenna. Who was that?"
