Beep! Beep! Gradually my left eye crept open. Beep! Beep! My right eye followed suit. I reluctantly rolled my whole body over to the right side of the bed. My eyes began to focus on the source of the roaring annoyance. Lazily I lifted my left arm and pressed the snooze button. Ah! Nothing compared to the pleasant relief of silence. I rubbed both my eyes to fully gain my sight back. As I looked at the alarm clock a sense of panic washed over me. It was 8:am; school started a half hour ago.
...
Without showering or brushing my short light brown hair, and with not paying really any attention to what clothes I hurriedly threw on, I had finally made it to North Pike High School. Before entering the school I licked the palm of my hand and tried to tame the mess of hair on my head. With no such luck I stepped forward towards the entrance door. I looked inside the glass of the door and saw my reflection. Realizing I looked like a human tornado, I tried to fix myself up a little. I straightened out my plain neon orange t-shirt and pulled my raggedy sweatpants up so they didn't sag as much. Gosh, the only thing that wasn't messy was my fresh out that box white running shoes. I breathed into my hand and took a whiff of my breath. It could've smelled better but what could I have done in a rush? Once I fixed my self up to the best of my abilities I readied myself mentally for the ridicule of the rich cheerleaders and judgmental jocks. I took a deep breath and stepped into school.
Nothing. There was one hundred percent nothing. It was 9:00 o'clock; it was the end of first period. There should've been students walking through the halls to get to there next class, there should've been loud and obnoxious voices filling the halls with noise. Nothing. Not even the usually badass or two skipping class just roaming the halls aimlessly. Yet no teachers, no students, not even a sound was made. A pin could drop and I'd be the only one to hear it. I walked past the old and slowly rusting lockers to get to my homeroom at the end of the hall. I noticed that none of the classes had teachers or students in them.
"What's going on?" I asked aloud. I turned around a made my way to the gym all the way on the other side of the school. On the way there, I
checked all the classrooms and bathrooms for any sign of life. Even the girl's bathroom was empty which was odd because there are usually at least two girls talking about somebody else while applying make-up. The cafeteria was void of any cafeteria lady also. Once I began to approach the gym, I felt a chill run up spine. All the hairs on my arms stood at attention. It felt as though something evil was hiding in the gym. The silence and lack of life didn't help my feeling of fear. Something still told me to walk towards the gym. I put my hand on the flat patch of silver rectangle that was on the entrance of the gym labeled "push". The patch was freezing cold. It wasn't just the patch that was cold. My entire body froze over as if I was in the middle of Alaska. Without paying attention to the sudden cold front I pushed the door open and held it open with my foot.
All the bleachers were empty. The entire gym was empty. Except for one man standing smack dab in the middle of the basketball court staring at me. The center of the court were the man was standing was right under the skylight. The morning light was illuminating his presence. To be honest it was a little hard to be fearful of a man who looked like an extra flashy pimp. He was wearing a baby blue and white three-piece suit complete with shiny white suede shoes; his long black hair was brushed back into a ponytail topped of with a matching fedora with a white feather placed on the side. The man was holding a long black cane with a sliver skull on top. I would've almost laughed but than I would've been no better than the jocks that laughed at me. The man continued to stare at me with a devil's glare. It seemed as if his blood red eyes were piercing through my body and into my soul. The man half smiled at me revealing brilliantly white shark-like teeth. His facial features were so sharp, his cheekbones and jawline would cut me deeper than any blade could. Through the ridiculous getup his facial features alone made my knees tremble with fear. Suddenly some unknown person pulled me back and the door was slammed shut. The stranger pulled me back around and I was facing another strange man, who was oddly wearing a parka.
