"Thank you Valentine." I thanked as I took his hand and Valentine helped me to my feet. "What did you call those people?"
"Those things were called vexels. I'll explain everything on our way back to the hotel." Valentine said with the hugest of smiles, I could tell he was proud of what he had done. "Good thing I followed you!" Valentine led me back into the club but I stopped just in front of the door. There was a sign above the door that said "The Basement" in bright flashing neon lights. Then it clicked in my head that when Andromache said "the basement is where the real festivities take place", he was referring to the name of the club. When Valentine and I walked into the club we instantly spotted Kira. She was dancing with some random guy on the dance platform. We walked over to her and Valentine whispered in her ear as she danced. Then she whispered something back.
"Kira said that Ryland was in the bathroom but said we can use his car to go home! She said she's going to stay a little longer and make it back herself!" Valentine yelled over the loud music.
"It's nighttime! Is it safe for any of us to be walking alone? Especially in the cold." I asked concerned for my sister's wellbeing.
"Your sister can take care of herself! Trust me!" Valentine winked. Valentine grabbed my hand and led me through the crowd of people until we were staring at the same wall we came out of. He knocked three times, waited a few seconds, and then knocked three times again. Instantly the door from earlier appeared. When Valentine opened the door the same bright light blinded me. While shielding my eyes I walked through the portal, Valentine in tow. Once I stopped shielding my eyes, I saw that were back in the abandoned movie theatre and Andromache was waiting for us. He was bowing.
"I trust my establishment was to your liking?" He asked as he arose. If I ever met him again his demonic voice would still creepy me out.
"Of course!" Valentine exclaimed unnecessarily loud. He was probably still getting used to silence.
"Excellent! I predict that this shall not be our final meeting." Andromache specifically winked mysteriously at me. I nodded my head scared that if I responded with words that my fear of the demon would show. Valentine and I walked back to the entrance, leaving my fear behind with the demon. Once we were outside instantly my body temperature dropped to negative five. It was snowing, a chill wind blew through the air. Goosebumps ran across my body as realized I left my jacket back at The Basement. Valentine saw that I was shivering.
"I'm sorry. I left your jacket back at the club." I apologized through my chattering teeth.
"Don't apologized! I forgot mine too!" Valentine laughed. "Let's just hurry up and get to the car so we can have heat!" Valentine and I jogged to the car. The minute we were inside the car Valentine turned it on and put the heat on full blast. As the car warmed up my teeth stopped chattering and my goosebumps were laid to rest. Valentine let the car warm up for a few minutes then we were off. As we drove back to the hotel I had some questions that need to be answered.
"So who were those people that attacked me?" I dove right into my questioning.
"Well, they are Abraxas's familiars." Valentine explained.
"You mean like his minions?"
"Basically except their not normal. Well neither are regular familiars. Well neither are demons. Actually none of us are really normal. Is anybody really normal?"
"Valentine you're rambling again." I told him.
"Sorry!" He laughed. "Abraxas's familiars are different because usually when a demon creates a familiar the demon takes half of a human soul and locks it away. A human with half a soul still has their humanity but they are controlled by the demon that has the other half of their soul."
