The Demon's Apprentice

"I'm going outside." I said as I stood up and walked towards the door I needed to find who I was looking for to get my mind off things.

"What's wrong?" Constance and Valentine said in sync.

"Nothing," I lied. "I just need some fresh air." Without looking back or waiting for a response I walked out the door. My biggest mistake ever. Once the door closed behind me, Andromache appeared in his astral form in front of me. The light above him shining on his bald head.

"It seems as though you made it to your location without any altercations." He said while oddly rubbing his hands together.

"Yeah, so where's your apprentice?" I asked. Andromache simply pointed up towards the ceiling for a few seconds then disappeared. Why were the good demons so creepy and annoying?

The door behind were Andromache stood before disappearing wasn't a room. The words "Staircase" were spray painted on the door. I opened the door and sure enough there was a staircase that led to the roof. I walked up the staircase lazily. I was hesitant because I still wasn't sure if I trusted Andromache or not. For all I knew I could've been walking into a trap but for some reason I didn't believe it. If I had really thought it was a trap I would've told Constance and Valentine.

Some part of me trusted what Andromache was saying. That part was probably the real me in the back of my head telling me it was okay. The part of me that didn't want to trust him was the me without a real set of memories. Apparently the real me won over which was why my body was taking me up the stairs. Once I made it to the top of the staircase I pushed the exit door open and stepped onto the roof. The view was very much different on the roof than on the ground.

I could actually see a little bit more of the sky but not a lot. The buildings were still a little bit too tall. There was nothing on the roof except for myself. Why would Andromache point to the roof if there was nothing on it? I walked around the roof just enjoying the fresh air. It was actually good to be alone for a little bit outside. It was short lived. Out of nowhere Andromache appeared a few feet in front of me. Except he wasn't alone.

There was a girl next to him. The girl was about as tall as Andromache's shoulder's which was about the same height as me. She had long free flowing brunette hair that perfectly matched her light green eyes. Freckles rested across her nose and cheeks. Her arms were toned with muscle. Not like somebody who works out every day but like somebody who lifts heavy stuff a lot. She was wearing a dark blue skinny jeans with white flip flops and a plain red tank top. But the most noticeable thing about her was her face. Everything about her seemed elegant and calm except her face.

Her brow was contracted as if her face was stuck in a permanent scowl. Overall her facial features were very rough. Like she was either angry or serious all the time. Or maybe both. The woman couldn't have been more than twenty or twenty one years old but with her scowl she looked like she was in her late twenty's. She stared me up and down. It was as if she was sizing me up for a fight.

"This is the guy?" The girl asked Andromache. She had sort of a disgust in her voice.

"Yes my dear. Remember what I have always taught you, there is always more than the naked eye can see." Andromache reminded the girl. I assumed she was Adrianna, Andromache's apprentice.

"I hope so. I don't feel like babysitting some kid." Adriana said harshly.

"Please discount the words of my apprentice August," Andromache said looking at me and not seeing the dirty look Adrianna gave him. "She shall be your escort to my physical form." Adrianna muttered something under her breath that sound something like "not willingly."
