ch.6-confrontation

“Did you talk to Raphael?” asked Alec, finally confronting Magnus. While Magnus had been gone Alec had been thinking about the reason they’d broken up. He knew he shouldn’t have considered the option of destroying Magnus’ immortality, but it had been Camille he’d been dealing with. But now standing in front of him, being the only two in the hallway, he was re thinking this and thought about walking away once Magnus answered, whether he did or didn’t, but he kept reminding himself, that he had to talk to him sooner or later, so he kept his feet planted where they were.

“Yes, he agreed to help.” Answered Magnus, flatly he didn’t look Alec in the eyes either.

“Look, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have even considered what Camille had offered, I didn’t really, I couldn’t have done that to you because… well because I love you!” Alec didn’t know where all that courage had come from, he hadn’t been planning on saying all of that, and really he hadn’t known what he was going to say, but in that moment it sounded right.

“Alec I…” Magnus began, still not looking up from the ground, afraid that he would give in if he saw Alec’s eyes.

“Please, you know I wouldn’t have done it, and you also knew Camille- how she would put thoughts in your head, but you would think better of it once you realised what she was offering.”

Magnus didn’t want to seem weak and give in just like that; it would make Alec think that he could just walk all over him.

“Alec, how am I supposed to trust you again, that you will never think about it again?”

“I don’t care if you out live me by absolutely millions of year. Sure Tessa and Will where together, and Tessa’s immortal!” Alec tried to reason.

“But Will didn’t try to destroy Tessa’s immortality! I don’t want to live forever; I would have preferred to live a life with you! But how can I if you go behind my back?”

“I took what I had for granted! Ok, I didn’t go looking for her, to ask her if she could! She offered! Fine if you don’t trust me, but just know that I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I was the one to harm you, or shorten your life!” Alec spun on his heels, stormed out the door, and up to the training room.

            Magnus stood there for what seemed to be hours, when in reality it was only a few minutes. He didn’t expect that from Alec, he knew how Alec felt, but he didn’t think he could deliver it across in words that meaningful. Alec had never been one for words.

            He didn’t know what to say, whether getting back together with Alec was the right thing, in a way he thought it was, but for some reason he didn’t want to. Magnus knew he would outlive Alec, and knew it would be hard to forget him, or move on afterwards, so maybe if Alec hated him, and they left it as it was Magnus wouldn’t get hurt, in the long run. He decided it would be best for himself if he just forgot about Alec, he saw how Will’s death affected-affects- Tessa.

            Isabelle wandered out of the institute, not knowing what to do or where to go. She just needed fresh air. She took out her phone and texted Simon. Meet me in Takies. She wandered slowly down the street.

“Hey,” he sat down and kissed her quickly and sat down. She smiled.

“What’s been going on in the institute?”

“Just planning Maureen’s capture, Magnus and Alec broke up, and Jace and Clary are fine.”

“So what do you do when you’re around a messed up couple and a reunited one?” he asked.

“Nothing, absolutely nothing!” she threw her hands up in the air emphasising it. She hadn’t realised it until now, but Simon was one of the only people she felt comfortable around, and she knew she could tell him anything.

“OK, so once we’re finished here do you want to go back to my place and watch a movie or something?”

“Sure.”

            Clary was walking towards the library when her phone rang, she didn’t even bother looking at the contact ID, instead she just answered.

“Yeah?”

“Clary? Are you OK? How’s everyone at the institute?” Jocelyn asked.

“MOM! I told you not to call me! I’m fine and so is everyone else, now I’ll see you in two weeks!”

“Fine!” she hung up.
