Maia felt sick. In the valley below them was something she had never wanted to see. Bodies were heaped upon each other and each carcass was savaged. Some had their limbs ripped off, while others had been killed the old-fashioned vampire way- they had been bitten. She couldn’t tell how many dead there was but she guessed that there was close to a hundred.
“Do you think it was Maureen?” one of the other wolves asked. Maia shrugged.
“It looks like something she would do, but why would she not cover it up?” she said.
“I agree. But we should stay around this area, and looks for clues anyway,” suggested Jordan.
Jace left the note on his pillow, kissed Clary’s forehead and reluctantly left the room. He felt bad for leaving without an explanation but he reminded himself that it was for the best.
“Ready?” asked Magnus, and they nodded.
“Where’s Clary?” asked Simon, noticing her absence.
“Am she’s coming after us,” Jace lied. One by one they stepped through the portal, not knowing where it would bring them.
Clary woke up alone. She didn’t panic at first. After getting dressed she went down for breakfast. No one was down there, which was unusual. Maybe Alec and Jace had gone training early, and Isabelle had stayed at Simon’s last night. Just then Alec walked in and sat beside her.
“Where’s Jace?” he asked, rubbing his eyes.
“You don’t know?” she asked, starting to get worried. He shook his head confused.
They left it at that.
No one answered. Clary knocked on Simon’s apartment door for the third time, greeted with silence once again. She rested her back against the door and kicked it, thinking. Where was everyone? No one came in the next hour, so eventually she decided to check the institute again. Alec was in the library, and he said that no one had come all day. She was surprised that he wasn’t in the least bit worried but he was still sulking since his break up. There was no missed calls or texts on her phone so she retired to her room. She climbed into the bed, hoping that they would come back in the morning.
Simon woke up to the smell of blood. He tried to move in that direction, but his wrists burned, pulling him back to the wall. His handcuffs were marked with holy symbols. He had fed the morning they left, so he didn’t understand how he was this hungry. Someone groaned in the corner, but didn’t regain full consciousness.
Isabelle knew the minute she woke up that her leg was broken. It was bent out at an odd angle, and it had started bruising around the knee. She didn’t notice any other obvious injuries, but then again there was barely any light, only a dim candlelight out in the hallway, seeping through the metal bars.
Jace woke up in a pool of blood. He couldn’t find the source to the flow, but he knew that it wouldn’t kill him, as there wasn’t a heavy blood loss. The second thing he noticed was that he wasn’t alone. He couldn’t tell who it was, but he sensed someone watching him.
Magnus on the other hand wasn’t locked up but his magic was weaker.
“Why?” he asked, staring at the fourteen year old in front of him. “The deal was hand over Simon, Jace and Clary, then you give us Tessa.”
“That was the initial deal, but I didn’t see a red head arrive with you, did I?” she asked. He didn’t reply. “Exactly,” “So unless Clary shows up, you and the vampire’s girlfriend aren’t leaving!!!” her voice had progressively got louder and fiercer.
Sorry that it's really short but it was kind of a filler chapter. and I just briefly went through their emotions. Pleeeease comment and vote xx
