Chapter 5:You were a minor when you lost your virginity.

I'm shaken from sleep by loud banging noises downstairs, so after putting concealer on my eye, I follow the noise to the kitchen. I open the door and find some shirtless guy fixing something to eat while Jessie is sitting at the table drinking coffee in nothing but a bra and panties. She turns when she hears me enter and smiles. The guy turns around too.

"Ariel, this is..." She looks at the guy expectantly, obviously trying to remember his name.

"Randy," he says exasperatedly, as if they've already been over this a couple of times.

"Yeah, Randy," She says with a smirk. "And Randy, this is Ariel." He gives me a wave that I return, before he returns to the stove. "Join us for breakfast."

I take a seat at the table, since the look she gives me says not to argue.

She taps her fingers against the coffee mug as she curiously sizes me up. "So, where are you from? I know it has to be somewhere up North."

I avert my eyes, trying to decide whether or not to let her know where I'm really from. I finally decide the information won't do any harm. "California."

She looks me over. "You do look like one of those Malibu chicks from TV." She says with a nod, just as the door flings open and Roman walks in, his hair in a mess, dressed only in a pair of shorts.

He glances at the guy cooking, before his eyes flicker back to Jessie. He lets out a grunt. "Good morning to you too, sweetheart." She says sarcastically, and he narrows his eyes at her before stealing her coffee and walking back out the door.

Wow. He didn't even spare me a glance.

"Don't worry about Roman, he's just weird, and he analyzes everyone." Jessie pats my arm as if she's trying to comfort me. "He's completely harmless. Tristian's a player, and probably has a STD," she adds in a mock whisper and I chuckle. "But again, completely harmless. He's just a big teddy bear."

"Liz is probably the smartest out of all of us, except possibly Roman, but he's pretty damn smart too." She says, "Anyway, she's majoring in the medical field."

"And you, what are you majoring in?" I ask her, and she smiles as Randy brings plates over to the table for us.

"Dancing," she says with a smirk. "To be specific, stripping." My mouth drops open but her smirk stays on her face.

"Really?" I ask, and she nods before shoveling food into her mouth.

-----

"I've called this house meeting so that we can decide what to do with the jail bait." Roman informs us as all the members of the house join him in the living room. I awkwardly sit on the arm of a couch, feeling like an outsider.

I let out a sigh. Jessie had come and gotten me from my room because Roman had declared a "house meeting", and I was required to attend. I don't know why, since I'm just a guest.

But now I know why.

"Really Ro-Man?" Tristian asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, really. This girl obviously has some major problems at home," he says pointing at me, "and she's a minor." He says.

"So, what?" Jessie asks with a frown. "You were a minor when you lost your virginity." She adds, and everyone turns to look at her.

"Jess, what does that have to do with anything?" Liz asks, slowly scrunching her eyebrows together.

Jessie shrugs. "I don't know."

Silence hangs in the air for a moment, before Roman starts to talk again.

"How about we take a house vote?" Tristian suggests, interrupting Roman.

"Yeah," Jessie agrees.

Roman shakes his head. "You do realize it's my house, right? My vote overrules all of yours'." He says smugly.

"This isn't a monarchy, it's a democracy," Jessie argues, "because we all pay rent." She finishes triumphantly, and Tristian high fives her.

"No, you don't." Roman argues, while narrowing his eyes at Tristian and Jessie.

"Well, we buy groceries, and pay other bills." Tristian shoots back, refusing to let Roman win the argument.

"Fine, we'll vote," Roman says and it's obvious by the scowl on his face that the votes won't be in his favor.

"If you think that Ariel should stay, raise your hand." Tristian says, and his hand and Jessie's automatically go up. The two of them look over to Liz, who glances back and forth between them and Roman. She finally lets out a sigh and raises her hand.

Even though I don't plan on staying here long, I'm relieved that the votes are in favor of me staying. I don't really want to go to that hotel, and I don't know anyone else in this town. Hell, I barely know these people.

Tristian and Jessie high five again for the millionth time. "You lose, Ro-man." Tristian cheers, while Roman just crosses his arms and doesn't respond.

"We should order pizza." Jessie says taking her cell phone out.

Didn't we just eat pizza last night? Apparently, that isn't a deterrent in this house.

----

To say that dinner is awkward would be an understatement. We've been sitting here eating pizza for about five minutes, and the only people talking are Tristian and Jessie, which isn't a shocker. Liz just eats her pizza and stays silent, which is probably because she's the most sane person in this house. Roman is glaring at everyone, but mostly at me, which makes me rather uncomfortable.

"I've got to go to work." Jessie sighs, standing up from the table after a couple of minutes of anxiously glancing at her watch.

"I have a date that I need to get to." Liz says when she looks at the clock and she wipes her hands on her napkin, "Can you take me, Trist? My car broke down this morning."

He lets out a sigh and rises reluctantly, pulling his keys out of his pocket. "Yeah, I've got you."

"Let me go change." She says, and he frowns at her, irritated.

"Why can't you wear that?" He asks, gesturing to her jeans and t-shirt.

Jessie whacks him in the forehead shaking her head. "If she wants to get some tonight, it ain't gonna happen in that outfit." Liz leaves the room, not bothering to explain herself.

"Well, I hope she isn't planning on getting laid tonight." Tristian huffs, obviously uncomfortable with the thought.

"Oh, stop being jealous." Jessie says before giving him a kiss on the cheek. She moves onto Roman, who lets out a grunt when she kisses his cheek. She gives me a hug, which surprises me, before saying goodbye and leaving.

Tristian and Liz leave soon after. Only then do I realize the one person left here is Roman.

We're alone again, and he hates me even more than he did yesterday.

Great.
