Carolina's POV

Yuri and I went out to have breakfast, I gave him some great advice for his free skate today, the men's event is first and then the women's event is last. I was quite nervous for this free skate not because Victor is not going to be here but Yakov is going to be watching my ever move in this skating event, but I won't let that bring me down. We headed to the ice skating center as it was about to start in 20 minutes. I waited for Yuri to finish changing. Once he was done, we did our handshake and I wished him good luck. He entered the ice skating rink and practice. I watched him by the sidelines, he fell a couple of times. Once he exit out of the rink, I gave him his water bottle.

"Yuri clam down, it's going to be okay even though Victor is not here I here so you better impress me show me what you got, and it's okay to be nervous." I told him as he smiled and nodded. We waited for his turn to be up, Yakov walked towards us, and told us to hurry up.

Yuri's POV

I was quite nervous today, but I have to take this advantage to show them that it was worth it for Victor being my coach also for Carolina being my duet partner. I looked down at the floor and everything was moving, the music started and I started skating. I miss a few flips and loops but I calmed myself down, I need to show them who I really am, I did my finishing pose and the crowd applaud. In the first time I was out of breath, I skated towards the exit and waited for my score, I got third place so far.

"Hey what do you think you're doing you had the chance but you blew it, you messed up Vitya's program." Yakov told me, as I just looked at him and gave him a hug. 'Don't worry Yakov Victor and Carolina will go back to Russia.' I said in my mind. Once the men's event was over I came in fourth place, I failed Victor and especially Carolina.

"Yuri?" I looked up and saw that Carolina was ready for her event.

"Hey I'm fine don't worry so much, show them what you got okay." I told her and I pull her in for a hug.

"Don't worry I will." She said as she almost fell, I caught her.

"Hey are you okay?" I asked her

"Yeah don't worry, I'm just a little nervous because my grandfather is going to watch every single move I make but don't worry I'm fine." She said with a closed eye smile. She went to practice her routine which was beautiful. She was the last one to got up I gave her a hug and wished her luck as she skated to the middle, the crowd was excited as ever because the lost princess of ice skating from Russia has returned.

Yakov POV

The crowd was extremely excited once Carolina entered the rink. She got into position and the music started to play. I watch every single move she made, her routine was flawless, she loops, salchows, flips and her axels were amazing, but her next quadruple flip seems so familiar, as she was up in the air my eyes widen hoping she would land, she failed to land and fell, the crowd gasped but she got back up. I now fear of what's going to happen, it's happened before not to me but to my son. He pushed himself too hard, he wanted to be the best and he wanted to impress that no good Martha, all of a sudden everything was going slow motion. As she was finishing, I ran towards the entrance to the rink, I didn't care if I didn't have ice skates on or I slip, I had to get to her. I ran towards her as she bowed to the crowd and waved at them. Suddenly I saw that her knees were starting to giving up and her eyes were closing, I ran and slid on my knees just in time to catch her, what I feared the most came true, but this time I was prepared and now what to do, I have to help my granddaughter out, so too precious to me.

"Hurry someone get me a stretcher!"
