"Hey, Luca!" a boy yelled from behind them.
Damn you to hell and back, James, Luca thought bitterly. The chance to kiss Dustin was there, but of course James needed to show up.
"Hey man," James greeted him. "There's a party tonight. You're invited. Maybe we can talk more." James stated with a wink.
"I'm busy tonight. I have plans with Dustin," Luca said. He shot Dustin a look that said Go with it.
"Yeah, sorry," Dustin nodded.
"Oh. Maybe next time. I'll see you later," James waved. Once he was gone, Luca exhaled in frustration.
"What was that -" Luca cut Dustin off by kissing him; Dustin instantly kissed him back. A subtle scent caught his attention for a split second.
Honey and dew drops, he thought through a wave of surprise that took over his mind.
"You ask too many questions," Luca whispered. Dustin stared at him, completely surprised.
"Soul mates," Luca murmured. "Maybe they are real."
"Each person is a different colour," Dustin blurted out. "Their personalities aren't shades of grey anymore."
"What am I?" Luca asked.
"You..." Dustin paused to think. This boy with hair the colour of a night sky and eyes the colour of summer leaves, what colour was he?
"Blue," he said softly. "You... are blue."
"Does that make you red?" Luca asked with a smile.
"What?"
"There's a song, and part of it says 'You were red, and you liked me because I was blue'," Luca explained.
"'But you touched me and suddenly I was a lilac sky'," Dustin said, remembering a song that played on the radio for a few weeks.
"'Then you decided purple just wasn't for you'," Luca said sadly, tracing the lines on Dustin's palm with one finger.
"Purple," Dustin decided. "Must be a beautiful colour."
