Dustin backed up when Azrael walked toward him.
"I'm not leaving him," Dustin growled.
"He's not your soul mate," Azrael snarled at him. "Luca is my son."
"Dad, he is," Luca tried to protest. "He's supposed to be here. He's supposed to be with me."
"Silence!" Azrael thundered.
Dustin waited for his memory to be erased. Maybe... maybe it was the best thing for them...

* Several Months Earlier *

The pair had been sitting in the field of the park, Luca sitting cross-legged, and Dustin laying beside him, his head in Luca's lap.
"What are you thinking about?" Luca asked, messing with Dustin's hair.
"A month, and I barely remember what it's like to see in grey," Dustin murmured, catching Luca's hand.
"You know," Luca said, suddenly nervous. "We're together now. And... I have to tell you something."
"Okay," Dustin nodded, kissing Luca's hand. "Anything."
"I love you," Luca said seriously. Dustin went still, looking straight into Luca's green eyes.
That was the day Luca really looked at Dustin's eyes. They were a light brown, almost the colour of honey, with yellow and green flecks in them.
"I love you too," Dustin said, almost inaudible. Luca exhaled, not realizing he had been holding his breath.
"Forever," Luca promised, leaning down and kissing him.
"And always," Dustin finished, smiling.

* Present *

Dustin waited, wondering if he'd be able to keep those memories.
"You can't do this," Luca pleaded. Azrael glared at his son, who had stood up. Luca took a step back, afraid.
Azrael snapped his fingers, and Dustin dropped to the ground.
"No!" Luca cried out. Dustin's light brown eyes fluttered open.
"Where am I?" he demanded, standing up.
"There was a party here last night. You fell asleep. You're going home," Azrael purred in a mesmerizing voice. "Go home. Forget the name Luca James."
"Forget the name Luca James," Dustin echoed, as if in a trance.

Without another word, Dustin turned and walked out of the apartment, taking Luca's heart with him.
