My feet pound against the hard tile floor, smacking each tolebinto submision. I have to run, I can't stop no matter what. The sleek white walls blur with the doors creating a light brown streak. I take a quick look back to see the guards chasing after me. They are already tiring, but I am still high on adrenaline. Though I am, only ten they still cannot outrun me. I burst through the building's doors, hissing at the bright light of the outside world. It is beautiful out here, the first time I've seen outside the menacing castle walls. I turn back, hopefully for the last time, at the doors of the palace to look at Tyrant, the ruler of this country, and raise both hands to the sky. I give him a sly smirk, flip him both middle fingers, and run into the awaiting night.

I run through the town smiling at the unknown wonders of the outside world. Never again will I be held prisoner in that hell. I run past the park, but stop and go back, it looks interesting and fun. I've never been in a park before so I explore its features. I sit on a swing and flinch when the old chains squeak. It is dark and I'm the only person outside. I don't have a place to stay, so I make myself comfortable under the slide and fall into a peaceful slumber.

I am jolted awake by the sound of footsteps approaching. Cautiously I lift my head and look around.

"What are you doing outside after curfew?!" a light brown haired girl, with brown eyes whispered looking around franticly.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." I answered. She simply smiled and took my hand, leading me to what I assumed was her house. We entered and she was bombarded with questions from her parents. I stared in awe at the sight before me, although, she just looked annoyed. She doesn't know how lucky she is to have parents that care for her as much as they did. They finished their questioning and glanced at me.

"Who is this young lady Kathleen?" her mother asked looking at me.

"Just a stray I found under the slide at the park."

"Well in that case. Would you like to stay with us?"

I replied with a quick yes. Kathleen smiled at me, "well then umm?" she looked at me for help, "Sarah" I inserted, "Sarah and I are going to go upstairs."

She leads me up the stairs and into her room.

"So we can sleep on the floor in the sleeping bags I have if that's okay with you."

"Considering I was going to sleep under the slide. That would be wonderful." I jokingly replied. She smiled and grabbed two sleeping bags from her closet and placed them on the floor. We crawled into them and she immediately fell asleep. However, I wasn't as lucky. I stared at the ceiling thinking of what just happened. Unable to keep my tears in I cry myself to sleep for the first time in three years.
