The juvenile rested against the broken gate and stared into the distance. She was currently in the form as a human. Despite her being almost three centuries old, in human years, she was no older than seven and would most likely remain that way for a long time. Dragons can live for a long time. She tucked her (H/C) behind her ears that hung freely down her back and exhaled.
There was a town built onto the lake. The once clear lake was now thriving with life in a rickety town made completely of wood. The town was filled with men, just like Dale. (Y/N) slightly frowned. She worried that this new town would share the same fate as the city of Dale did decades ago. Unlike her father, she somewhat cared for innocent life forms. She thought that men were the most precious of all. They could easily get harmed and had the shortest lifespan of all the races of Middle Earth.
Slowly getting up, she headed towards the hoard. It felt like years before she made it back. She felt out of breath and her knees slightly hurt. After a few minutes, she felt better and she slowly approached her father. At her current size and height, Smaug seemed enormous. An ordinary human would cower in fear but (Y/N) was not afraid. His much larger frame peered down at her and chuckled. He lowered his head so that his eye was parallel to her face.
"There's a town on the lake"
She said.
Smaug nodded in agreement.
"I know. But the men will cause us no harm. You have nothing to be afraid of"
Smaug lifted his head. Lake-Town. The town was most likely filled with the descendants of the humans that survived the destruction of Dale. He was more than sure that the men had heard of the dragon who took over the lonely mountain decades ago. He was more than sure that they were more than afraid to approach the mountain in fear of getting killed. He was also more than sure that the men had no idea that the fearsome dragon had a child that he was taking care of. Not just any child. His own blood.
If her mother had not been killed during mating season, (Y/N) would be in her care back in the North. Of course, he'd never tell (Y/N) that. It's very unusual for a male dragon to take care of a drakeling all by himself unless there's a reason that involved the female. But his daughter didn't need to know that. But if the dragoness had survived, (Y/N) wouldn't have known him. Smaug enjoyed his daughter's company and she enjoyed his.
If the men had anything in mind that would cause harm to his daughter, he wouldn't hesitate to burn them all just like the men of Dale. He could say the same thing about all the other races who would dare enter the mountain. Especially those filthy dwarves.
