3 - understanding

Rachel Nicole POV

"Open the door!" I saw one of the neighbors from earlier knocking aggressively on our door. "Um do you need something?" I asked coming up from behind him with my grocery bags. "Do you live here?" He asked catching his breathe. I nodded my head slowly with a confused expression.

"Well that girl who lives here too took my basketball and I kind of need it" He said scratching the back of his neck. "Okay I guess, let me get it" I unlocked the door and saw the basketball sitting on our counter. "Here, I'm Rachel by the way" I said smiling at him. "I'm Hayes" He returned the smile then ran back to his house.

As soon as I shut the door I turned around Carrie spoke up. "Why'd you give him the ball?!" She huffed leaning against the counter. "Because I'm trying to be nice to the neighbors not steal their stuff" I said putting the cold stuff away.

Carrington POV

"Well long story short, the new neighbors broke the window" I rolled my eyes showing her the destruction. "WHAT?" She said looking at me then holding her head. "I'm going to bed" She whispered walking to her room.

"Well I guess I'll eat dinner" I said to myself opening the fridge then heard a small knock at my door. I looked out the small peep hole to see Hayes. "What do you want?" I asked folding my arms. "One damn you're salty, and two I'm giving you this check for your window, and three I'm sorry for causing this mess" He said looking down at the ground then back at me with pleading eyes.

"Look I'm sorry for coming off rude, and it's okay people make mistakes. But how did you even make a basketball go into my window?" I asked giggling. He laughed then shook his head, "I guess my game wasn't on" He said smiling. Oh my gosh his smile is adorable. Wait shut the hell up Carrie he's a stupid boy.

"Here give me your number and maybe we can hang out so I won't be known as the stupid boy with an adorable smile" He smirked laughing. "Wait I said that out loud?" He nodded and hummed back a yes. Great one there Carrie, you can't even keep your thoughts to yourself. I blushed from embarrassment.

"Well now that I got you number I gotta head back and attempt to make dinner since I live with retards" He giggled causing me to do the same. "Okay see ya later" I closed the door and leaned against it to take in what just happened out there. This should be interesting.
