Chapter 20 art, not my base.
Rowdy and Frodo had decided to stop and rest for a few hours, they had been walking for a while now. Fortunately Rowdy could smell Treeherd horses, so they were close at least.
Frodo looked up at Rowdy from his laying position "You think they'll let us join them?"
Rowdy glanced at his friend "No idea, my brother may not want anything to do with us, but we have to try."
"And if he says no?"
The tan stallion shrugged "I don't know."
A new voice joined in, "You there! Who are you and why are you trespassing on Treeherd territory!" They called from the bushes
Frodo jumped to his hooves startled "We were looking for Treeherd!" He states as calmly as he could even though he had been scared out of his fur.
"Why?"
"To join." Rowdy snorted
"We know (M/n)." Frodo says
"You know the stallion? He's been teaching us to fight." A much squeaker voice speaks
"Quiet Achlys." A feminine voice snaps
"Sorry.."
Rowdy stands to his full height, which was surprisingly tall for a med-horse, usually horses dealing with herbs don't grow very big because they don't do much. But under certain events Rowdy and Frodo were both strong well built stallions.
"Can you just come out?.....This is hard talking to a bush." Frodo calls
A brown appaloosa stallion stalks from the shadows, his cold amber eyes narrowed, "Give me one reason not the strangle you." He spits, as vines from the trees shoot down, ready to wrap around Rowdy's and Frodo's necks.
"Easy there, pal, we just want to join the fight against the humans." Rowdy says
"Zeb and Chaos sent us." Frodo added
A small black and white filly bounced out of the bushes, "I know them! They're nice horses! Can they please join Hawk?"
"Are you magic users?" The mare from before asks coming out, she was obviously the fillies mother. Rowdy had to suppress a shudder, the mare's eyes were white and her sclera was jet black making her look strange yet oddly pretty...
"Yes." Frodo answers
"What magics?"
"I...shift into a eagle..." Frodo mutters clearly not proud of his power
Hawk nods, and turns to Rowdy who had been eyeing the mare weirdly "And you tan one?"
"Dark magic." He states bluntly,
"Really?!" Achlys squeaks "The only dark magic users I've seen is Indigo and Mask!"
Rowdy scowled, "Dark magic users are considered bad luck amongst herds, almost all of their population is gone." He says coldly, there was a hint of sadness underneath his tone, but no one knew.
Achlys reeled back, "S-sorry..."
"Rowdy!." Frodo snapped, "Don't be rude."
The tan stallion glared at the ground, "Whatever." He shook his head, his mane gently swayed back and forth before laying still against his forehead "Can we just join?"
The mare and Hawk looked at each other seemingly in a silent debate, it took a few moments before the mare nodded "You may join."
Frodo smiled, "Thank you!"
Rowdy's tense frame visibly relaxed, he had his doubts, but thankfully they were reasonable horses. A heavy sigh left his muzzle as he gazed at the three before him, barely catching the mare staring at him,
'Great...new place, odd horses.' He thought grimly
The mare shook her pelt before standing tall, "I'm Swirl, let's get you two too the others." She greeted kindly
--
"Swirl go tell (M/n), Winter, and Wolf that we have company." Hawk ordered, the mare nods and trots off quickly through the abandoned human gate.
"How many horses do you have?" Frodo questions,
Achlys opened her mouth to respond, but was cut off when Hawk's tail smacked her and glances back at them "Enough." He states calmly
Rowdy had been quiet the whole time, Frodo flattened his ears and turned to his friend silently asking for help, Rowdy gave him a look, as if to say 'What do you want me to do?'
"Where are they?" A strong voice echoed throughout the camp, "Where is my worthless brother?"
Rowdy flared his nostrils and pushed past Hawk and Frodo, he despised how his younger sibling called him worthless.
"(M/n)" The tan stallion grunts
"Oh. So you did come? I was wondering if you had left our family for good." The (p/c) stallion huffs
Frodo nudged Rowdy back, "No need for violence." He whispered
"If he continues to speak like a god then there is need for violence." Rowdy sneers
(M/n) snorts and stalks up to Rowdy, "Watch you tongue or I'll have my horses attack."
"Your? Excuse me, your horses?" A female voice cut in, "Forgive me for interrupting, but these horses are not yours to lead." A grey and white mare says sternly.
"Forgive me, Winter, but Rowdy was being a pain." (M/n) says throwing his head as he turned to stalk off.
"Rowdy?" Winter gasped
"Hey sis." The tan stallion muttered
The mare didn't say anything, only she ran up to the larger horse to wrap her neck around his, "It's been long, brother."
Rowdy awkwardly flattened his ears before returning the embrace, "Too long."
A small brown mare with white markings trotted into the clearing, "Winter." She calls for the grey mares attention. "Mountain herd is here, and they are less than pleased with what's happening."
