Preemptive A/N: Be forewarned... I went a little crazy on the puns for this chapter.
I sniffled, leaning against Dan as I took in the emotions brought on by the ending of Your Lie In April, which he'd demanded we watch when he'd found out I'd never seen it. It had helped that we hadn't had much else to do while we'd basically quarantined ourselves to my apartment while we got over whatever bug we had. So for the past couple of days we'd been binging the show, me feeling very grateful that I'd only had to take one sick day since I'd gotten sick the day before my weekend.
"You okay?" Dan asked, looking down and pausing the video as I wiped the tears out of my eyes.
"I was not prepared for that ending..." I mumbled. "It's so perfect... but it hurts so much. I can't deal with all of these emotions..."
"Welcome to every fandom ever," Dan said, pulling me into a hug and placing a light kiss on the top of my head.
I let out a light sigh and laid across the couch and Dan's lap, successfully trapping him as I looked up at him sadly. "I don't even know what to do with life now though..." I said. "What even is life after finishing something that good?"
Dan looked down, returning my gaze as a small smile began forming on his lips. "Hm... we've all been there. But I think I can help distract you from it..." he said, lightly poking my cheek.
"Stahp," I laughed, pushing his hand away as he continued poking my cheek.
"But it's the only cure," Dan teased, lightly poking my cheek again. "And besides, your cheeks are just so adorably squishy!"
"My cheeks aren't squishy, they're just special," I said before pushing away Dan's hand again and quickly covering my face.
"All of you is special," Dan said, trying to move from under me.
"No, stop, I'm comfy," I complained, my voice muffled by my hands.
Dan laughed and lifted me up slightly, lying down and wrapping his arms around me to keep me from toppling off onto the floor. After a few seconds of silence, I removed my hands from my face and suddenly found myself laughing from the silly face Dan was making at me.
My laughter only increased when I noticed that to get eye level with me Dan had to have his legs dangling off of the side of the couch when my feet were barely reaching the arm rest. "St-stop," I wheezed, trying and failing to control my laughter.
"Never," Dan said in the derpiest voice he could manage. "The power of derp is your only hope!"
"What happens though... if the power of derp is too strong and ends up infecting me?" I asked, pulling to derpiest face I could manage.
Dan began laughing hysterically and pulled me closer. "Th-then I'll have to use the power of lurv to save you!" he said through his laughter, placing kisses all over my face.
"Ahh! No, you're going to make me sicker with your sickness!" I giggled.
"That just means you'll have to stay with me longer to recuperate," Dan chuckled, resting his forehead on my forehead and staring into my eyes.
"As amazing as that sounds, I think I have to go back to work tomorrow..." I said, staring right back.
"I mean... you don't HAVE to... nobody's forcing you to leave me."
"The cost of living would care argue that..."
"Pshhh, who needs food and a place to live?"
"Right? I'm such a wussy."
"But you're my wussy."
"I wouldn't want to have it any other way," I smiled.
Dan and I stared at each other for a little while longer before I decided to cross my eyes. "God, you're such a dork," Dan laughed as he readjusted himself on the couch so he wasn't dangling off the couch. "We were having such a nice moment too!"
