Chapter Three

Claire's POV

I stood at the vault in Saunders's basement where Cooper was being held. Loud gun shots could be heard from where I stood. I couldn't take it much longer, I ran upstairs as fast as I could. I looked a head of me and Andrew stood with a crossbow in his hands. I ducked before the bow could hit me. I ran past him before he could try once more and I got to Zackaria, who had four of these bows in his flesh. I pulled them out one by one, him yelping in pain each time. I heard a loud howl coming from the basement. Cooper. Zackaria and I stood up together. I helped him gain his balance before his wounds healed. I ran back down the stairs to find Andrew in a pile of blood and the small window close to ceiling of the basement broken. I heard screams of pain. Human pain. I had realized Cooper had most likely killed someone, just like I did my first full moon.

I woke up in cold sweat. Thank you, god, it was only a dream. I fell back on my bed and looked at my alarm clock on my bedside table, 4:00 it read. I groaned and sat back up. If I'm only going to get a couple hours of sleep, I better just get up. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen. I'll have enough time to make breakfast.

I reached the kitchen and I looked up above the sink, where the picture of my mom hung. I smiled at it and opened the fridge. "I'm sorry," I apologized to her picture. I was pretty much the reason she was dead. Her body was never found, but I know Steve and his disciples killed her. She went missing the night after I had changed.

I got into the fridge and got the egg carton, veggies, ham, and the orange juice bottle. I closed the fridge and set everything on the island behind me. As I walked to the cabinet which contained pots and pans, the floor creaked and I stopped, hoping my dad wouldn't wake. I got to the cabinet and opened it. A bunch of pots fell out and landed on the ground in a loud crash.

"Shit," I mumbled, picking up some of the pots from the ground.

"Claire?" my dad questioned with a baseball bat in his hands.

"Dad, you have a werewolf in the house and your choice weapon is a bat?" I asked with a questioning look on my face. I chuckled at him.

"Well, if there was a criminal in the house, I could beat him a little and you could rip his throat out," he said setting the bat against the wall. He walked over and helped me pick the pots up and put them back in the cabinet. I grabbed the larger pot I was looking for.

"Want an omelet?" I asked him setting the pot on the eye. I looked over at him and he smiled and nodded. I smiled back at him and turned back to the eye.

I walked through the same doors I walk through almost everyday. I walked to my locker, where Cooper stood talking to the brunette with piercing blue eyes. I smiled at her, Cooper's back was to me and he turned his head to look at me. I got closer to them and hugged Ariel.

"Hey there," she said with a bright smile, hugging me back. I pulled back and looked at Cooper.

"So, was I, uh, interrupting anything?" I asked chuckling. I raised my eyebrows at Coop and he rolled his eyes. I stepped back and moved to my locker. "You guys are cute!" I said opening my locker and grabbing my things for chemistry.

"What?" Ariel said said stepping back a bit with a confused look. She chuckled and patted Cooper's chest. "I better get to class. See you later," she said and waved at us. She walked off and Cooper watched her leave.

"C'mon lover boy, you need to get to class," I said and shut my locker. I walked off and to the chemistry room. I walked in to find a Saunders standing my his desk talking to a smiley Luke. I looked at them confused. I shrugged and walked to my table in the back. Luke's things were already sitting in front of me. The bell rang and Luke walked to the table and sat across from me. He smiled at me and I swear that smile could cure cancer. I smiled back at him and blushed. I looked down at my hands and then back up at him.
