Lorelei at the top!
--
After a few days, my grandmother hadn't come back. I hadn't been over to Collin's since I found him with Lorelei and Jackson. Lorelei was still staying with Saunders and I could tell there was something there. The more time I spent with Lorelei, the more she resembled Candice and the way Saunders had talked about her. It confused me, how two different people could also be the same person, in a theoretical sense.

The one thing that continued to stay on my mind was all these abilities I had. I played around with them like children play with their new toys on Christmas morning. I was so eager to perfect them and learn about them. I stayed up at night creating electricity and fire in my hands and doing new stunts I saw on the internet.

I walked out of the school and towards my car. I stopped when I saw Darcy's car pull in the parking lot. She pulled closer to me and rolled down her window. Jackson sat in the passenger seat. He looked different.

"Get in," Darcy said and unlocked the back door. I got in with no questions asked. She drove off and didn't say a word.

None of us talked as Darcy drove. I didn't know where we were going nor did I care. I trusted her and knew she wouldn't hurt me. We got to our destination; I didn't bother looking out the window to see where we were.

Darcy turned and looked at me. Sadness was written all over her face. I knew what was coming. Someone was going to die.

"Claire," she said quietly. "Don't freak out, but I saw something earlier today," she paused. "I saw Zack die."

My jaw dropped. I shook my head, confused. "What? How did he die? I have to stop it."

"That's why I brought Jackson. He has the ability to read minds."

I nodded as Jackson poked his head over the seat. He leaned him closer just so I could barely touch his heart. When I did, I watched as the veins in my hand absorb the power.

I looked up at Darcy and focused my energy just on reading this thought of her's.

What I saw, scared me. Collin would kill him. Paul would be trying to stop it, feeling the emotions Zack was feeling, trying to make Collin feel sympathy. Collin wasn't capable of sympathy. You can only make someone feel what they are capable of. Collin ripped open Zack's neck and left to lay limp on the ground. Collin would then clap and smile as Zack struggled on the ground for air.

I was then released from the thought and I leaned back against the seat as my eyes filled with tears and my hand came up to my mouth. After a while, I collected myself. "How do I stop it?" I asked.

Darcy shook her head. "You can't."

I swallowed back my tears and wiped my eyes. "Then, I'll kill Collin," I said as I stared out the window, realizing where we were. The factory outside of town. This is where Luke found out about what I was. I stepped out of the car and walked closer to the building. I followed them, a bit confused.

We walked inside. The smell of blood lingered in the air.

"You've been here," Jackson said as he looked back at me.

I nodded as I looked around. "The entire reason I met Collin was because of what happened here," I said.

"People were killed here. Many people," Darcy said as she looked around.

"How many do you think?" I asked.

"I know there were about ten," she answered.

"How do you know that?"

"I can see them. How they all died. I can see it all playing out," she said as she started at a wall. "They were all hunters, all but one. One of them was human."

I was confused. The only humans there that night were Luke and my dad, neither of them are dead.

"Human? Who was the human?" I asked.

She wasn't answering me. I focussed my energy on reading her mind. Once I saw it, my jaw dropped. Carole wasn't a real hunter. She was human.

"Claire," Darcy said as she turned around. "Wh-" she started, but I cut her off.

"Carole Airgid. Steve Airgid's wife. I thought she was a hunter. She always went with them. I didn't know. I always smelled it on her, but never thought anything of it " I sighed.

She shook her head. "Why didn't you tell me you're half hunter?"

"I didn't think it mattered."

"That's why he wants you with us. You're a lethal weapon and he wants that in his pack. Claire, he wants you to kill Saunders," she spoke quietly. "He wants you to do what he did. You're just like him."

"What do you mean?" I snapped.

"Collin has hunter's blood running through his veins, just like you," she confessed.

I hadn't noticed that Jackson had left us behind until that moment. I looked around for him, but I didn't see him.

"He gave us our privacy. Come on. Him and Alec are waiting for us," she as she grabbed my arm and pulled me along with her.

All of it was so confusing. I followed her to a room that looked all to familiar, a pool of blood in the center of the room, Alex and Jackson conversing beside it.

Alec looked over at me and smiled slightly.

"What are we doing here?" I asked.

"I'm sorry about Zack. I know you really care for him," he fretted.

"I'm not letting him die," I retorted.

The four of us talked about Collin and Zack. We came up with a plan. A great plan. Zack was not dying if I had anything to do with it.

Little did I know that Collin also had a plan for us.
