Hi! So, I literally just heard this song on the radio for like the first time and I really like it (maybe it's just because it was written by Ed Sheeran, who knows, who cares?)! Anyways, I think you should DEFINATELY listen to it while you read this :)

Based on: When Christmas Comes Around by Matt Terry

3rd Person POV

It's been two months now.

Two months since Newt left him, or in more accurate words, since Newt kicked Thomas out of what was once their house. They'd been together for just over a year and then it was over. Just like that.

Thomas sighed, flicking through the channels that were filled with old Christmas films. Films that he would usually watch with Newt, wrapped up under a warm, fluffy blanket with a hot cup of chocolate in his hands. He didn't even like the films that much but Newt seemed to, and whatever made Newt happy made Thomas happy too.

Rolling his eyes, Thomas finally switched off the TV. He was only torturing himself.

It was snowing outside. Light snow floated down passed the frosted glass window, laying the tiniest bit on the concrete floor of the street. Thomas smiled softly at that. A small smile that danced on his lips. Winter was his favourite season, mainly just because it gave him an excuse to sit on his couch all day and not do anything.

But then Thomas remembered his winter last year. He remembered the day that he and Newt went ice-skating even though it was absolutely freezing cold and neither of them actually knew how to skate. It was still an amazing day – probably one of his favourite memories that he has of Newt. Another favourite of his would have to be Christmas day last year, when they had been sat by the Christmas tree over at his mother's and Newt handed him a small box wrapped in metallic red paper and green ribbon. The last thing that Thomas had expected to find inside that box was a spare key to Newt's house attached to a very expensive looking chain.

The smile soon slipped off of Thomas' lips as he remembered what had become of that chain. It probably lay rusted on a rubbish pile after he'd ripped it off of his neck and thrown it at Newt. The key, well Thomas wasn't quite sure what had happened to that. He vaguely recalled throwing it at a framed picture of the once happy couple and watching as the glass shattered, creating a web of cracks and the key clattered to the floor by their feet.

Thomas was looking out of the window when he tasted something salty. He had tears running down his face, burning in his eyes.

He groaned, hiding his face in his hands as he tried to compose himself. This was ridiculous.

What was he doing?

He should be at Newt's right now, apologising for everything that he ever did and anything that he ever said but instead he was sat here, alone, wishing for Christmas to be over. He still had 3 days to wait for that!

Without a second's hesitation, Thomas bounced up off of the couch, wiping his eyes with his hands and grabbing his jacket before he looked around his flat. It wasn't anything great; he bought it cheap after spending a week at his mate's house recovering from the break-up. Taking a deep breath Thomas swung open his front door and stepped out into the cold air of December.

His beloved Jeep was parked a few doors up, and bracing himself for the strong winds, Thomas made his way over to it. He quickly unlocked it, slipping in to the driver's seat and turning the key. The heating slowly kicked into action, leaking warm air into the vehicle.

Thomas sat for a few minutes, rubbing his hands to warm them up as he contemplated his plan of action. What was he actually about to do?

Shaking his head clear of his thoughts and doubts Thomas started up the Jeep, his foot pressing on the pedal as the vehicle began to move forward. Thomas hadn't checked the time before he left but it didn't matter, although Newt did live almost an hour away.
