A/N: Howdy all, I have returned. It's nice to see you and I'm back with another one shot. I'm sorry for the delay but I'm back now. I will be doing a Christmas one shot at some point to be prepared for that one with others in between. Anyway, we have Malec up above and For Better or Worse from Uncharted 4. Now, you may see a small coleration between this story and a previous one but I had this idea and I really wanted to do it so now it's here.

Alec slammed the door shut and thundered up the stairs to Magnus's flat. His tears were flowing uncontrollably by this point. He threw the front door open and forcefully shut it behind him. Throwing his bow and quiver to the floor, he let out a loud, angered scream. Seconds after, a pair of warm, large hands had settled on his cheeks, gently tilting his face up. Alec, through his haze of tears, saw a pair of concerned, cat eyes gazing at him.

"Alexander? Darling? What's the matter?" Magnus asked. Alec reached up and gripped Magnus's wrists, cementing him and keeping him upright.

"It's my fault! It's all my fault!" Alec cried. Magnus sighed and stood up to his full height, pulling Alec into a hug and allowing Alec to cry into his shoulder for a while.

"Hush now darling. Shh. It's alright. Breathe. Just breathe. Focus on your breathing now, darling. You're breathing too fast and I don't much appreciate my darling Nephilim collapsing from oxygen deprivation." Magnus cooed into his ear, his voice low and soothing. Alec let out a huff of laughter through his sobbing.

Once Alec had calmed down a bit, Magnus lead Alec over to the couch and set him down. Magnus crouched in front of his Shadowhunter, holding onto Alec's hands and running his thumbs across the back of them. "Tell me what's wrong." Magnus ordered.

"It's all my fault, Magnus." Alec whispered. Magnus let go of one of his hands and wiped away a tear that had fallen on Alec's left cheek.

"What's your fault, dear?" Magnus asked, taking his hand again.

"We were on a hunt..." Alec took a deep breath. "It was a simple one to start with. Three Drevaks and we would have been out of there. Only, there was something else." Alec inhaled sharply again, trying to control his breathing once more. "We'd taken out the last one and out of fucking nowhere, pops a Behemoth demon." Alec pauses again. "We attack it and I'm so fucking stupid!" Alec yelled. Magnus shook his head and hushed him.

"No, you're not. Deep breaths and keep going."

"It attacks Jace the most. I can't even protect myself, let alone him! I'M SUPPOSED TO PROTECT HIM!"

"Alec, lower your voice. I can't understand you if you're yelling. If I can't understand you, then I can't help you."

"Sorry." Alec mumbled. "I stabbed it and it turned on me, scratching me across my chest and sending me flying. I hit my head and passed out. When I woke, the thing was still alive and Jace was still fighting it. Izzy was passed out somewhere. I called to Jace, telling him to mind his back at the Demon struck out at him but I distracted him. He was hit and the thing started tearing at him. I barely managed to shoot an arrow at it. I killed it but... Jace is... He's... Dying and it's my fault, Magnus. He might die and it's entirely my fault!"

"No. It's not your fault. You did everything you could to protect him. You just weren't quick enough. He just wasn't quick enough. Don't beat yourself up. It's not your fault and I don't blame you, and neither does Jace probably, in the slightest. It's not your fault." Magnus soothed. He raised one of Alec's hands to his lips and pressed a soft kiss on the back of it, closing his eyes. "You did all you could." he spoke against Alec's hand.

"I could've done more. That's what I'm saying."

"No." Magnus opened his eyes. They were sterner than before, harder but still filled with love and compassion. "You were attacked. You were unconscious for the best part of the fight."

"But-"

"Aah. I don't want to hear it." Magnus silenced.

"You might not think it's my fault but father does." Alec muttered.

"You father thinks everything is your fault. How badly did he yell at you this time?"

"Bad enough to make me leave. I should be with Jace."

"Hey, no. No more of this 'I should' or 'I could'." Magnus raised up slightly and pressed a kiss to Alec's forehead. "I'm making tea, want some?"

"Yes please." Alec murmured, weakly. Magnus smiled warmly and left to the kitchen.

"What did he say?"

"He kept going on about how I should've done something, how I'm weak and pathetic. How one injury left me numb in the arms and impaired my shot."

Magnus appeared seconds later, taking Alec's wrist into his hand and holding it up. "Are your arms still numb?" he asked.

Alec could hear the faint bubbling of the kettle and internally smiled as he remembered how he'd made Magnus make hot drinks manually instead of magicking them from somewhere and how he'd made Magnus cook his food instead of 'steal' it as Alec called it. "Not anymore." Alec lied.

"Are your arms still numb." Magnus repeated, less like a question.

"No, I said." Alec pushed. He didn't want Magnus wasting his magic on something quite as stupid as this.

"Liar." Magnus growled. Alec looked stupefied and then looked down at the arm that Magnus was holding. Magnus's knuckles were white and he held Alec's wrist in a bone-crushing hold that usually would've hurt. Magnus's hand snapped shut and broke Alec's wrist and Alec didn't know how to react. He hadn't felt it. Magnus rolled his eyes and quickly healed the injury and lay Alec down on the couch.

"This will make you feel tired. Feel free to fall asleep." Magnus urged. Alec closed his eyes in preparation and felt his shirt get lifted up and heard Magnus sigh. "Damn it, Alec."

"Sorry." Alec apologised. Alec felt magic course through his veins and down to his arms. He felt a tingling sensation in his arms and a drowsiness in his head. Alec quickly succumbs to sleep, gratefully accepting the darkness.

When Alec woke, he was still on the couch and there was humming. Tuneful, mind you. Alec slid his eyes open and sure enough, tidying up the room was a humming Magnus. Events that came previously flooded back to him and he shot up, startling the Warlock that hadn't noticed that Alec had woken up. "You broke my wrist!" Alec gasped, accusingly.

"I healed it and besides, you lied to me!"

"Oh, shut up. How bad was I?"

"Hmm? I don't understand the question.

"Earlier... Last night... Whenever I was last awake... How badly was I... You know..."

"Crying? Bad. But, by no means any less beautiful."

Alec blushed. "That's the shadowhunter blush I know and love." Magnus grinned, ruffling Alec's hair. Alec squawked and moved away from Magnus's hand. Magnus laughed. "Come here." Magnus beckoned, holding his arms out. Alec stood and happily melted into Magnus's embrace. Alec felt Magnus rest his chin on Alec's head.

"I love you." Alec spoke, his voice muffled by Magnus's chest.

"And I love you. But, next time you're going to turn up at our apartment crying, I expect at least a call first." Magnus joked. Alec smiled.

"Our." he breathed.

"What was that?" Magnus asked.

"You said 'our' apartment."

"Well... yeah... why wouldn't it be? What's mine is yours."

"And thus, the reason I love you so much."
