Sick Days (AU)

Magnus could hear Alec's coughs from the kitchen in their apartment. He'd fallen ill on the day before of unknown causes but it was nothing serious. Just a few coughs here and there. They's managed some peace as Magnus had rescheduled all of his clients for the following week.

Magnus finished up the tea he was making and set the steaming mugs down on the coffee table before cautiously entering their shared bedroom where Alec lay, cocooned in blankets and used tissues. "Alec? You awake?" Magnus asked. Alec grunted in reply. "Come on, darling, shall we watch some old Disney films on Netflix?"

"Please." Alec replied, hoarsely. Magnus peeled away the blankets and easily lifted Alec into his arms and cradled him against his chest, which he happily snuggled into.

Magnus carried him out of the bedroom and into the main sitting room and lay him down on the couch before retrieving a few blankets and a box of tissues. He placed the tissue box on the coffee table and threw the blankets over his shivering lover and slid in behind him, under the bundle. Magnus grabbed the remote from the arm of the couch and switched on their TV, navigated it over to the players and Netflix before switching it to the Kids section. "What first?" he asked, surfing through the Disney list.

"Brother Bear!" Alec pointed out, excitedly as the film came into view. Chuckling softly, Magnus selected the old film and it started up. He dropped the remote on the floor and wrapped his long arms around Alec's smaller, quaking frame. Alec pressed himself backwards into Magnus's chest.

Several movies later, quite singing from Alec and loud, hilarious singing from Magnus, Alec had finally fallen asleep nearing the end of Brave. Magnus sighed quietly and carefully reached over Alec and grabbed the remote, turned off the TV and eased himself off the couch. Carefully, Magnus raised the sleeping beauty into his arms and settled him back into bed.

Magnus slipped in under the covers and watched as Alec unconsciously placed his head on Magnus's chest and wrapped his arms around Magnus's torso. Magnus smiled warmly and placed one hand under his head and the other around the raven-haired Shadowhunter curled up at his side. He leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss on the top of his head before settling down for a sleep himself, barely registering the quiet whisper from his boyfriend.

"I love you."
