A/N: HUGE SPOILER ALERT! This is kind of Jalec but also Malec. It's set during the events of episode 3 of the Shadowhunters season 2 that came out today where I live. I did indeed, shamelessly cry. Now, there are some serious spoilers but I've added my own twist so this isn't just a recount of what happened. If you want to see more of my little alterations that I can do for each episode as I know them back to front, by heart as I've watched them so many damn times, then let me know. I love writing what you guys love reading. So, anyway, there's some Malec above along with Invincible by Ruelle. Yeah... I apologise for my further actions.

Jace's head hurt. His nerves shot and his emotions through the roof. Alec was dying and it was his fault. He had finished getting cleaned up and, with a sigh and one last look in the mirror, exited Magnus's bathroom. He made his way to Magnus's living area and spotted Magnus knelt next to an unconscious Alec. It had been a few weeks and Jace felt as though he was going to cry. Alec had done so much to find him and this is how he repaid him. "Alec." he breathed. The three people before him glanced up and over at him.
Magnus was to first to move as he made his way over. Magnus joined him halfway, holding out his hand to Jace. In his fingers was a small piece of Adamas. Engraved on every side was a rune that Jace had come to love. Parabatai. Friendship. Jace reached out for it, subconsciously gripping Magnus's wrist in the process. That last touch he needed. As the stone fell from one hand to another, Jace felt a surge. Only small. But, it made him know what to do. With a small nod to the worried Warlock, Jace passed him and made his way over to his dying Parabatai. Jace could feel the strain and he was terrified. Terrified to lose someone he loved so dearly. His Parabatai. His brother. His friend. Alec.
He knelt beside the unconscious man and gripped his wrist. It felt slightly cold to the touch. He raised Alec's arm and joined their hands, the Adamas locked tightly between their palms. From between the gaps in their fingers, a soft glow was being emitted. It was yellow and Jace could feel the energy coursing through his veins. "Entreat me not to leave thee." Jace croaked out. "Or to return from following after thee." Jace remembered the scene of them becoming Parabatai. The next line was Alec's and he hoped to Raziel that Alec would say them. Instead, Alec let out a heart-wrenching gasp and jolted. The stone fell from between their hands and in a panic, Jace didn't reach for it. Their hands broke apart.
"What's happening?" Isabelle asked from behind him.
"He's slipping." Magnus replied.
"No." Clary half cried out. Pain was drawing at their voices, making this every harder for Jace. Alec's breathing was becoming ragged as his breath left him. Each inhale more difficult from the last. Jace reached out and placed his hand against Alec's neck in the hopes it would do something. Anything.
"Thy people will be my people; thy God will be my God." Jace continued. Plea was seeping into his voice as things got ever worse. "When thou diest, I will die." Jace was barely able to contain his tears now and they freely fell. "And there will I be buried. The Angel do so to me." In the corner of his eye, Jace saw the last of the glow from the Adamas stone slowly burn out and, at that same time, Alec released a slow, final breath. His head fell to the side, no longer supported by his muscles, Jace's hand releasing its hold on Alec's neck.
Jace's body started shaking with sobs and his rune stretched out one final time. He pulled Alec into a hug, holding the limp man with all his strength. He had to finish what he started. "And more also," he quietly sobbed, his voice barely above a whisper, "if aught but death part thee and me." Jace could feel eyes on his from behind, no doubt full of sorrow and pain. "Please don't leave me, Alec." he choked out. There was a horrible pause before someone said something.
"If aught but death part thee and me." Alec. Jace felt his rune relax and Alec shift slightly as he spoke. Happiness welled up inside of him and he gently rested Alec back against the couch he was lying on. That moment was short lived because Jace pulled Alec back up into a hug which the other gladly returned. Jace could hear Alec's quiet sobs and Clary laugh slightly from behind. Once again, any happy moment was short lived when a voice he didn't recognise rang out.
"Jace Wayland." Jace turned, moving away from Alec who remained on the couch. "You are hereby sentenced to the City of Bones to await trial for the charge of high treason and aiding Valentine in the war against the Clave."
"Wait... What... What the hell is going on?" Alec called out, weakly. Jace didn't turn.
"No." he growled. He had just gotten Alec back. He wasn't leaving him behind.
"I am in my right mind to kill you as the sentence for high treason is equivalent to death."
"Strip me of my runes. Kill me for all I care but you are not taking me away from here. You're not taking me away from Alec."
The two Shadowhunters either side of who Jace guessed to be Aldertree went to grab him but he pushed them away. This sparked a fight and it was Jace against the other two. Alec was too weak and the others too afraid to help. He didn't mind that. He did mind, however, when Aldertree got involved and pinned him to the ground.
"I, Aldertree, hereby sentence you to death."
"No!" Alec cried out. Alec pushed himself up, trying to get to his friend.
"Hold him back." Aldertree sighed. He turned back to Jace who was struggling profusely beneath him. "For actions against the Clave and with the enemy. Ave atque vale."
Aldertree raised his hand, in it a Seraph Blade, and drove it down, digging deep into Jace's heart. Jace cried out in agony and there was a scream for him. There was a ringing in his ears and everything started to fade as he drew his last breath and was consumed by darkness.
Alec felt pain. That's all he felt. That's all he knew. That's all he remembered. Jace fell spiritless beneath Aldertree and Alec felt his bond with him snap. Pain burned his body and he fell back against the couch, screaming out. His back arched as his body seared. He heard Magnus's frantic cries from somewhere but he couldn't make out what he was saying. The pain subsided, bringing shadows with it.

Alec woke some time later, curled up on a couch that he realised to be Magnus's. A hand was soothingly carding through his hair and he almost didn't want to wake. Almost. That was until everything around him came crashing down and he recalled the previous events. He shot up crying out for Jace but only got a hand on the side of his head in response. He slowly turned to see Magnus. His eyes were bloodshot and tear tracks ran down his face. "Where... Where is he?"
"I'm so sorry, Alexander. I'm so, so sorry." he breathed, gently pulling Alec into his embrace. If his world was broken, with those three words, it was now shattered. He couldn't contain the cries that were ripped from his throat, the sobs shaking his body. Magnus gently rocked them back and forth, holding him tightly. He repeated the same three words over and over. "I'm so sorry."
"Alec?" a concerned voice came from somewhere. Alec identified it as Izzy's but he was too distraught to react accordingly. He gripped Magnus's shirt, holding it like it was his lifeline. It became sodden with tears. Alec's head hurt. His nerves shot and his emotions through the roof.
