the hardest part
about letting go is
doing itWyn looked up at the ceiling as Mase and Kayo talked about the guy that apparently pulled a gun out on him for "no reason". Wyn knew Mase better than that though, he was the complete opposite of his brother Daye. Smoke blew pass Wyn's eyes, catching his attention. He looked over to young Mase who was laughing after hitting a blunt. Next to him was Kayo, stuffing the remainder of the money into the two duffle bags. They made eye contact for a brief second then Wyn got up.
"Give me my motherfucking shit." He said before snatching the blunt out of Mase's grasp. He then walked away, putting the blunt to his lips before going in the back where his room was.
They didn't have a "spot" because they didn't have a business so they took care of everything at Wyn's house after hours, whenever Taylor wasn't home. After Taylor finished college, she struggled to find work in her psychology field so Wyn helped her out by setting the whole jewelry store thing for it. Now they're living large.
Wyn plopped down on their bed and laid back, looking up at the mirror above the bed. He always cracked a smile when he saw it.
"Why, Wyn? Just why?" Taylor asked a few years ago when he was getting it installed for the first time.
"What you mean why? So I can watch you while you sleep." He told her. Taylor laughed before giving him a playful punch.
"Baby, I'm far from stupid. I know what the fuck you doing." She said before walking away. He followed her after smacking his lips.
"So what did you ask for?" He asked.
"Just to see if you were bold enough to say it to me. I guess the fuck not." Taylor teased, dipping her fingers in the water she was drinking to test if it was cold.
Wyn smacked his lips again. "I wanna watch you throw it in five different shapes and angles with that motherfucka." He told her.
Taylor nearly spit her water out as she started laughing uncontrollably. "I would fucking never throw it back for you, Wyn."
"You already have."
He laughed at the memory. Every memory he thought about regarding Taylor made him feel a way but nonetheless reminded him of why he was truly in love with her. Sometimes he would think back on all the bullshit and about Roman and how he almost succeeded in taking her from him. That made him think.
He pulled his phone out and called Taylor.
Taylor looked down to the phone vibrating in her clutch. She ignored it knowing it could only be Wyn at this time. Reiya smacked her lips as she continued to lay back against her headboard listening to Taylor explain what had been going on for the past years.
"I know you think I just left you but that's really not the case, Rei." Taylor continued explaining.
Rei was starting to feel a little better about the situation that Taylor was clearing up. Now that she thought about it it made a lot more sense than what Glynn had told her that night. Taylor knew that Glynn wasn't going to take care of Rei but she thought she would have at least tried. It had been 14 years, she could've at least came back to check on her.
Taylor was now 36, basically pushing 40, didn't have time for the childish games with her older sisters. But they were still playing them.
Rei nodded after a while. "I understand." She said before looking over to her. Taylor had told her everything she remembered from now all the way back to when she witnessed her best friend pass, even a little before then when Rei wasn't even thought of. She told her about Roman and Wyn, who Rei often had weird dreams about just because she remembered his face in a way you would remember a father figure. Her mind wandered to Roman though. "Do you think it's the same way with Roman?"
That stunned Taylor. She looked down to Rei as she thought about what she just said.
Roman pulled his pants up a bit as he walked out of his office, locking it up before pulling his keys out of his jacket pocket. He walked to his Mercedes but paused when he heard several footsteps. Roman wasn't the least bit moved.
He didn't say anything, he just put three of five keys between his fingers so that they stuck out. Then he continued his walk to his car, unlocking it before putting his hand by his gun.
Just as he expected, two men with masks on came rushing towards him. Roman turned around quickly, punching one dead in his face with the keys in hand. The man fell back holding his face in pain. Roman was still at it, aiming the gun at the other man before he got too close. He tell that by their height that they were either really short niggas or teenagers.
One of them were crying on the ground, the one he stabbed, while the other consoled him.
"Aye, get out of here, kid." Roman said before throwing a small stack down. "And take him to the hospital."
Roman thought back to when he was young on the streets losing friend after friend until he just stopped making friends out of the fear to lose them. Everyone thought he was being cold towards them, but Roman had been through shit. He saw shit he'd never want to see again, but that did nothing but make him stronger and more aware.
He got in his car and started it up before looking out the window where the two dudes were still there. He rolled his window down slowly.
"Get in." He ordered. The boy consoling him picked up the money and the other boy before hurrying him to the car. Roman was only doing this because he wished someone had done it for him.
"Wyn. I'm at my sister's house still, shut up." Taylor said into the phone as Rei watched her. She so badly wanted to ask her more about Roman but Taylor had dropped the conversation there and switched subjects quickly. There had to be more to it. She wasn't pressing it though, she was just honestly happy she came back to her unlike Glynn. I hope that bitch is getting a train ran on her bitch ass. Reiya thought.
Glynn's legs were tired, her stomach aching as she threw up for the fifth time in the bathroom of her home. She sighed before getting up to wash her mouth. The doctor said they believed it was some type of stomach virus but Glynn thought it was more than that.
"Ma, are you okay?" Her 14 year old son asked, his eyes focused on hers. Glynn nodded before going to hug him.
"I'll be alright." She told him.
Although he was a huge mistake created by her and Wyn, she still loved him dearly. She hadn't heard from him or her sister in years and she didn't plan on getting in contact with them. If either one of them knew about this child, there'd be hell. She wanted so badly to abort him but she had nothing and no one so she kept him and took Rei to her sister's, she knew she wouldn't be able to afford both of them.
This was her first and only child. She took care of him and he took care of her.
"I know you'll be alright." He told her. She looked down at him and smiled.
She kissed his forehead. "I love you, Junior."
