Step 1:Choosing a name.
When choosing a name, be sure to make it stand out. An exotic name can leave people remembering your character. I know it sounds weird but I would easily remember a character named Kalijah than a person named Sam.
Here's some examples of names that stand out: (You can use any one of mine for your own fanfiction)
Wren
Tanisha
Deasha
Aaliyah
Charmaine
Hope
Ida
Jan
Larissa
Presley
Step 2:Your character's appearance.
This isn't very important to me, but it's nice to have an image of your character. Use describing words CAREFULLY and don't describe your character in one single paragraph.
This is an example of how NOT to do it:
I moved my long, slender hands through my sleek black hair. I always loved my hair. I straighten it almost every day. I put my hot pink Victoria Secret bra on and some matching hot pink underpants. I then put my one direction t-shirt that I got from the one direction store on. Next came my Hollister navy blue sweatpants that I got at the mall on. I then put my Aeropostale sweatshirt- Bored? Yeah me too....
Oh and P.S. I don't care if it came from the dumpsters. I honestly did not start reading a fanfiction to find out where the character gets her nail polish. Please DO NOT write where she gets her clothes. It's really booorrrrriiiiinnnnnggg....
And if your going to put a picture of the character on the side, make sure you don't magically change her appearance in the story. Last time I checked, Barbara Palvin does NOT have pink hair.
And let me tell you, not everyone looks like Victoria Justice. Just saying.
Step 3:Storyline.
This is one of the most important parts in the story.
Okay, let me make this clear: WE ALL HAVE AN IMAGINATION!!!!!
So:
#1: Don't steal anyone's idea. It's not nice. :(
#2: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, BE CREATIVE!!!!!!
And creative is NOT: I went to the store and bumped into Harry Styles and he asked for my hand in marriage and then he cheated on me but then he made it up and said sorry and I forgave him. :/
Yeah, that goes with #1 since I saw at least 10 fanfictions based on this. Or it could be Starbucks. Really it's all the same...changing the type of store wont make a difference.
It takes time to come up with a fanfiction. And patience. Ideas will just come to you. Make sure they don't involve Starbucks or Nandos. If I read another fanfiction where Sam and Niall meet up at Nandos and fall in love over food, I think I'll puke. A three year old can come up with a better storyline.
#3: Don't do the stupid I just met you and I love you. Like how about no. I don't know about you guys but if someone spilled coffee on me, I wouldn't be thrilled. Much less fall in love with said person. I know one direction can be an exception but come on. Let's be slightly realistic.
#4: I live in New York. I've been in New York City over 12 times and I didn't meet a celebrity once. This basically goes to say be realistic.
#5: Super natural abilities. Well I've read many vampire fanfictions. And I liked about 1 out of 10. Please don't start the story with:
