It was a quiet yet chilly night. The woods were silent for once. The only activity that was going on was the soft, cold snowflakes descending from the sky.
Two wolves pad along side by side. One with black fur, the other pure silver fur. To anybody else, they would appear as a male alpha showing his pup around the forest. However, these were not your ordinary wolves. In fact, these wolves were humans as well, but that's a story for another time.
The black furred wolf's eyes gleamed before shifting into a human. His red hair blew gently as the wind whispers a low lullaby. His now brown eyes turn towards the small silver wolf pup. He smiled a little once he saw the little pup snapping at the small snowflakes as if it were an enemy.
"What are you doing little Eden?" The male asks. The pup, once it heard its name called, pauses, tail wagging a little as it switches back to its human form.
"The small things are attacking me!" The small child squeals, her blue eyes flashing as some more snowflakes cling to her soft blonde curls. "Papa, make them stop!"
"Oh Eden!" The male chuckles, picking little Eden up. "You see, these are snowflakes."
"Snowflakes?" Eden says slowly, cocking her head to the side a little
"Mhmm, snowflakes," The male starts walking forward towards the town's small cemetery. "It's winter time." The snow crunches under the man's feet as he walks passed a couple of tombstones. Eden wraps her tiny arms around the man's neck.
"But why must it be so cold Papa!" She whines, burying her small face in his neck. The man chuckles, patting Eden's blonde hair.
"You know why it must be so cold during winter time. How else would everything be so beautiful after it dies?" Finally, the man stops in front one tombstone with a small wolf statue. He sets Eden down, gets on his knees and wipes the snow away from the small plaque that reads;
YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. YOU WERE THE PERFECT BEST FRIEND ANY ONE COULD EVER HAVE ASKED FOR.
"Papa?" Eden asks, standing a little closer to the man who stares sadly at the plaque. "Are you okay?" The man wipes his eyes and stands up.
"Of course sweetie, Papa will be fine." He scoops Eden up in his arms, feeling her tiny arms wrap around his neck again. Her small body shivering because of the cold. The wind picks up, blowing a little stronger, tugging at the man's clothes.
"Papa," Eden says through her chattering teeth. "I'm cold. Can we go home to Dad?" The man smiles, holding her tighter.
"Okay, little Eden. We'll go back home. I forgot you're still too young to be out in this freezing cold for long," The man stares off into the distance for a little bit before he starts walking towards the entrance of the cemetery. "But one day you'll be a strong alpha of your own pack Eden. One day."
