I shifted into my massive white wolf, sprinting through the forest towards my pack's territory. As I emerged from the woods, I quickly donned a pair of jeans and a white tank top, trying to shake off the adrenaline.
"Riel?" My dad's voice cut through my focus. Damn it!
I turned to see him standing there, confusion etched on his face. "What are you doing here when you should be attending to your mate?" he demanded, his tone a mix of concern and authority.
I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly, searching for a plausible excuse. "I- umm, she's awake?" I ventured, more as a question than a statement.
"Great, now I need you to stay away from her until we take the chip off her." he says, his voice carrying a hint of irritation.
Chip? What chip?
"Are you even listening to yourself? You want me to stay away from my own mate?" I argued.
"Until I am certain she's safe to be around, I will not risk my son's safety." he said, raising his voice—a rare occurrence for him, known for his calm demeanor.
Well, almost always calm—except when it came to family disputes.
"I'd rather be in danger than stay away from her." I muttered under my breath.
He sighed in frustration. "Get the chip out first."
"What chip?" I shouted, exasperated.
"Are you really this clueless? They tracked her down because of it. How do you think they found her?" he asked, his eyebrows knitted in annoyance.
"She's being tracked?" I asked, disbelief seeping into my voice.
"Grow up, Riel. How are you supposed to lead a pack with this level of immaturity?" he said, his tone carrying a blend of disappointment and frustration.
I lowered my head, embarrassed.
"I have errands to tend to. Act like an adult for once." he said before walking away.
I sighed heavily, making my way to Adamone's room. I knocked repeatedly, and he opened the door, looking exhausted. "Yes?" he asked, adjusting his glasses and eyeing me with a mix of curiosity and fatigue.
"Let me in." I said, attempting to push past him, but he blocked the way.
"What's the problem?" I demanded, annoyed.
"One second." he said, closing the door abruptly. I was left standing there, fuming. When he opened the door again, I tried to enter, but a girl with a flushed face exited, her hair disheveled as she straightened her clothes before walking away.
I rolled my eyes, stepping inside. His room was a mess—a clear sign of what had transpired. "Don't judge. A man has his needs." he said, attempting to sound innocent.
"I'm a man too, Adam. Doesn't mean you have to be a whore." I shot back.
He shrugged off my comment. "It's not my fault I was born with charm. Besides, girls these days seem to like nerds with glasses." He smirked.
"I need help." I said, choosing not to sit on his bed, disgusted by the state of it.
"An undercover mission? What's the situation, Alphie junior?" he teased.
"I need you to track down a girl named Evelyn Ra." I said, urgency creeping into my voice.
Adam pulled out his MacBook Air, opening it and typing furiously. "Evelyn Ra." he repeated, his fingers flying over the keyboard.
