Michael
The bright New York City sun blazes through the blinds right by Leo and I's bed.
Its the tenth of September 2001. We perform our first sold out show in Madison Square Garden, tomorrow.
I squint my eyes because of the sunlight smiling directly in them and shake Leo awake.
"Been awake for a while baby." She laughs.
Jenna and Tyler were already awake, whispering and giggling in the bed across the room from us.
"Can you guys like hush? Please and thanks." Josh says from his spot on the floor in front of the dresser. He was wrapped up in a thin hotel blanket and his only pillow was his hoodie.
"I really don't wanna get up." Leo giggles, tightening her grip around me and resting her head on my shoulder.
"We've gotta meet Feldy at the venue at eleven." Josh mumbles.
"And its what time right now?" I ask, craning my neck to try and see the digital clock on the nightstand where all five of our phones were charging.
"Seven." Jenna whines.
"It'll take about four hours to wake up the guys." Tyler laughs.
"Not with that little ball of fire in there with them. I bet shes been up since five." Jenna says, easing her way out of bed, limping over to the bathroom. The baby is straining her back already.
Tyler roughly rubs his eyes as he rolls over flat on his back.
"Josh. We gotta get up." Tyler sighs in a crackly, still-half-asleep voice.
"I know man." Josh whines, his voice muffled because his face was burried in his hoodie and his blanket was pretty much draped over his face.
"So like, get up." Tyler says.
"Me?" Josh asks in a high pitched voice. Leo giggles at their conversation.
They're like this on tour all the time; brothers.
"Yes you, its your turn today anyways I'm pretty sure." Tyler says, rolling back over on his side.
"Its Josh today!" Jenna yells from the bathroom.
Leo and I die laughing as Josh stands up, his blanket still wrapped around his shoulders and over his head. He shuffles his way over to Tyler, grabs his exposed ankle, and drags him off of the bed.
So he wouldn't hit his head on the floor, Tyler gripped the comforter and pillowed it under his head to break the fall. Josh drug Tyler all the way to the bathroom, where Jenna was now brushing her teeth, and left him by the door.
Every day, Tyler or Josh has to carry, or in this case drag, the other to the bathroom so they can get ready without having to walk. The one that gets carried is allowed to brush their teeth and hair and get dressed on the floor, and none of the other band members can trip over them or complain about them being on the floor.
Leo runs her hand up my chest, her bare legs tangled up in mine. I have literally the most comfortable pair of Adidas sweats on, but I'm still oddly cold as hell.
Her short white hair is a wreck on top of her head and her green eyes were looking right up at me.
She had the biggest grin on her face and I couldn't help but smile too, even though I had no idea what she was smiling about.
"What?" I laugh, leaning down and kissing her forehead.
There was a secret she was keeping from me, but its a good one, I can tell.
