Making sure they weren't followed, Thorne looked back and forth between the way he was headed – into the Blacksmith Shop – and the way he'd come from. Once he was done with his inspection of his surroundings, he threw Kaito into the shop.
The Captain took the time between confronting Kaito and nearly dying to ring out parts of his clothing from the water they'd soaked up after saving the young man. "Sorry about all of this, but I was not going back to prison. Not my scene."
The kid was standing up from the ground, wobbly on both legs as it would seem. The bloke was holding his knees in effort to not fall on the floor again. While Kaito was occupied, Thorne took the key ring off his belt and unclasped the irons from his wrists. Sadly, he also knew where he had to put them next.
Before Kaito could back away, Thorne slapped the cuffs around his wrists and stepped back. Kaito had been more than surprised. The boy was outright furious.
"Are you really going to keep me as a hostage for much longer?!" he barked. "Because I believe that going through with that idea will have an end we both know is eminent."
Thorne was taken aback a little by his sudden bluntness, but what this kid was quick tongued, he was slick. "What? You mean a quick drop and a sudden stop? Yeah, I've heard that one before. Hasn't really boated well for people who say that to me."
Kaito rolled his eyes and scoffed. He shook his chains around to either shake them from his body or just for the fun of it. At this point, Thorne couldn't tell what the kid was doing.
The sound of the rattling almost covered up the sound of the door creaking open.
Once the intruder was fully in sight, Thorne could see that the person who'd interrupted his business was a female. Tanned with creamy brown hair, and she was covered in smudges and old clothing. All three of them were silent for a moment, until he decided to clear the air.
"You seem to have stumbled into my hide out. Would you like directions back to yours?"
That comment hadn't made things any better than they were. Thorne thought she was start screaming and alert the authorities that he was hiding in here.
What she did was far from that.
She slammed the door shut behind her and raced for a sword that was hanging from a holster in the wall. She pulled herself into a stance and held out her sword, like she was about to attack him.
Great. Thorne just had to run into one of those girls. And once he began to put it together, it looked as though she was the owner of this shop. Typical of his luck to land in the den of a possibly unstable swordsmen. Or rather, swords-women.
"Release him immediately," she demanded. Thorne glance over his shoulder and saw that Kaito was completely dun-founded.
"Cinder?" he questioned, more so in delight and glee than in actual inquiry. The girl ignored him and moved to make a strike at Thorne. He parried her blow only to be met with another and another .. and so on and so forth.
Cinder – as it would seem – backed him up into a stack of large barrels and he was forced to climb them up to the rafters of the building. This girl was exceedingly better than most of the guards he'd met when it came to working with a blade.
Thorne stood up on the rafters and gained his balance as Cinder climbed up after him. He could see Kaito down on the ground, watching Cinder with the eyes of a child. Full of wonder and aw. That boy clearly knew this girl already, and there were a thousand ways he could have been acquainted with her previous to this occasion. Most of the ones Thorne thought of involved some kind of weird sword transaction or him sneakily lurking outside her shop to watch her. Both of which made Thorne feel a bit odd and grateful that he was raised the way he was. To steal and to sail.
