Logan's POVAfter I teach my class I head to the kitchen for my thirty minute break.
"Hey Logan!" Rouge yells my way, "How come you never told me you had a sister?"
I raise my eyebrows and think of how she would have found out.
"I talked to her a few minutes ago and she didn't even know who I was or that you live here."
Oh that's how she knows.
"Well I don't just tell any stranger what I do every minute of every day." I open up the fruit and vegetable fridge and grab the reddest and biggest apple.
"Well she ain't no stranger to you so..." She let the word drag on.
"Well she kinda is to me." I try to hint her that I don't want to talk about it.
Yet she doesn't get the hint, "What do you mean she ain't no stranger?"
I heavily sigh and gather my scrambled thoughts, "I don't remember my past before I got these-" I show my claws, "so I didn't remember that I had siblings let alone Sapphire."
She lets that sink in and we both sit at one of the big round tables.
"She sounded like she wanted to get away from our conversation."
"Oh?" I ask, but it's no surprise to me, "She isn't much of a talker and she's kind of shy so it comes to no surprise that she maybe felt awkward and ran." Actually she isn't too shy and talks non stop.
"Oh, ok then I better go. Later Logan!" She finds Bobby and leaves me to the silence and my apple.
"Later." I reply even though she's gone. I never got this century's slang.
I'm halfway through my apple when a teen mutant comes and sits beside me. Curiosity takes over and I have to ask the kid, "What does 'rank' mean?"
The kid surprised by my question answers confused, "It means like gross, or bad, you know along the lines of that."
"Well that's a stupid way of saying something is bad or gross." I speak my mind.
"Well you are older so..." He doesn't need to remind me.
"Ya well you kids these days have so much bad slang. In my day," I start but he leaves before I can fully speak my mind. "In my day kids were respectful." I mutter.
When did all these dumb slang words enter our day to day vocabulary? When did kids and teens get so odd and unkind? These thoughts swarm my mind as I finish my apple.
Once I'm done, I throw out the core and look to the clock seeing I still have fifteen minutes to my lunch break. I walk to Sapphire's room and carefully knock.
There's no answer so I knock again but louder this time and speak through the door, "Sapphire? You in there?"
Still no answer. I decide to just go in and when I do I see that the furniture has been moved since last I saw it and the window wide open.
"Hm.." I ponder for a second on where she would have went.
Maybe the roof?
I exit the room, making sure to close the door on my way out, and head to the elevator. Clicking the 'up' button, I realize I'm not the only one waiting for this mini ride. I have to wait for a while before it dings, the up button, and opens for new people.
I have to get off the twelve floor and go up the stairs to get to the roof. Once I reach the door to the outside area I grab the door stopper and proceed. Making sure the door is open, and will stay open, I try to listen for any signs of female life on the roof. It's hard since there's kids playing below on the green grass.
