"Are you gonna get that?"

I shook my head, not taking my eyes off of my notebook, "Nope."

"It's been four days, Collins. Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Allison, and your Dad have all texted you like 100 times. And not to mention all the calls, there's got to be at le-"

"I get it, Isaac." I cut him off, "I know they're all wondering where I am. Why I'm not at school and why I haven't come home since the night after you escaped the police station. But the truth is, if I go home now, I don't have an explanation. I don't know why I'm still here or why I haven't gone to school."

Isaac didn't say a word. He just picked up my phone and checked the messages, just like he had been doing these past couple days. I turned my read receipts off the first day I skipped school, so I didn't have to worry.

Anyways, Isaac and I had become pretty close since I started staying here. We spent almost the entire day alone together everyday. Boyd and Erica were off at school while Derek was off doing his werewolf duties, who knows what those are.

"Uh, Collins. You might wanna read this one." Isaac broke me out of my thoughts, nervousness laced throughout his tone.

I took my phone from Isaac and saw that it was open to my messages with Scott. The newest message was one that left me speechless.

McCall: even tho you probably won't answer. I figured you should know that Stiles got paralyzed by that lizard monster thing at the car shop. he's lucky he's okay, he could've been killed

"Are you going to see your brother?" Isaac spoke up.

All I did was nod. I don't care that I will be bombarded with questions or that my dad might ground me until I'm 30, but I just needed to see my brother. I needed to know that he was actually okay.

"What's wrong with your hand?" I heard my dad ask as I rounded the corner.

I could see my Dad and Stiles sitting on the edge of an ambulance. Dad being Dad was interrogating Stiles, trying to figure out what had happened.

I watched as Stiles shook his hand around, like it was hurt or something, "Nothing. Can I just get out of here now?"

"Look, if there's something you don't think you can tell me-"

"You think I'm lying?" Stiles asked.

Of course you're lying Stiles. Your heartrate proves it.

"No, of course not." Dad responded.

Oh, Dad. If only you knew what actually happened.

"I'm just worried about you." he continued, "Now, if you saw someone do this. If you're afraid that maybe they're gonna come back and make sure you don't say anything about it."

"I didn't see anything... at all." Stiles sighed, still lying to our Dad, "Can I go now please?"

Dad slowly nodded, "Sure. But not in your Jeep, we're gonna have to impound it."

Stiles threw his hands up in disbelief.

"Sorry, kid, evidence. See you at home." Dad patted Stiles shoulder before standing up.

Stiles dropped his head into his hands, "Alright. Well at least make sure they wash it!"

I just stood there in the shadows, not knowing what to do. Somehow, the rain soaking my body made me feel better.

I knew I came here with the purpose of going home with my Dad and brother, but I couldn't bring myself to actually walk over to them. But seeing that Stiles was okay satisfied me and I wasn't as distraught any more.

I watched as Stiles jogged over to a car. It was Scott. Thank God that Scott was always there for him. I wish I had a friendship like Scott and Stiles. I tried my best to listen to what they were saying.

"You okay?" Scott asked as Stiles shut the door.

My brother breathed out, "Yeah. You're right, it's not like you."

The lizard thing?

"Its eyes were almost like reptilian," Stiles continued, "There was something about 'em."

"What do you mean?" Scott asked.

"You know when you... see a friend in a Halloween mask, but all you can actually see are their eyes? And you feel like you know them but you just can't figure it out who it is?"

"You saying you know who it is?"

"No," Stiles breathed out, "But I think it knew me."

Holy Shit.

I stumbled back, only to hit a pile of something and knock it over.

"Damn it." I whispered, trying to fall back into the shadows.

"Is that Collins?" I heard Scott ask Stiles.

I looked up at the car and saw them both staring straight at me.

"It is. Scott, drive, go after her!" Stiles yelled, hitting Scott's arm.

The second Scott cranked the engine, I took off. Not now, I can't go with them now.

"Are you sure you lost them?" Derek yelled in my face as he pinned me against the wall.

I nodded quickly, "Yeah, yeah. I took a lap around a block a couple miles back and then disappeared into an alley. They won't find me."

"Derek, leave her alone. Her brother almost died tonight." Isaac spoke up, trying to defend me.

Derek rolled his eyes and let go of me, "Go be with your protective boyfriend."

"I don't have a boyfriend." I growled at him.

I left Derek and walked over toward Isaac. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me into his side. This was just something that he had started doing over the past few days, I just took it as something normal.

"How is he?" Isaac whispered as we walked to the bedroom area of the warehouse.

I leaned my head into his chest as we walked. Derek has made make-shift bedrooms for Isaac, Erica, Boyd, and I. They weren't the best bedrooms, but they worked.

"He's good. A little shaken up, but he's good." I breathed out.

We stopped outside of my bedroom and continued our little talk.

"Did you talk to him?"

I shook my head, "No. If I did, I wouldn't be back here."

"Right." he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

I took a deep breath and let it out, "Goodnight, Isaac."

"Goodnight, Collins." he responded.

I got up on my tip toes and placed a soft kiss on Isaac's cheek. I squeezed his hand before walking into my room. As I sat down on my bed I could hear Isaac's heart rate speed up.

I smirked as I laid down on my bed, it's fun knowing that I can have that effect on people.
