Ah, sweet summer break. Time for sitting back, relaxing, and navigating through the summer months sweating, and trying to stay cool until yet another gruesome year of school begins.

Most students anticipate sleeping in, watching t.v., playing video games, computers, tablets, outdoor activities, an all of the other normal things teenagers enjoy. I suppose there is nothing wrong with their choices, if you enjoy those types of things. I on the other hand can only imagine the typical pleasures that others delightfully smile about. I sit back  in awe and only wish that I could get the luxuries that others take for granted. I will admit that I am jealous. At the same time I do not dwell for what I do not have. I am what many describe as a dreamer. I see myself as a believer.

I was brought up by stern parents, with many strict values. I was opposed to many of their rules and lectures for so many years. However, I come to terms with my pessimistic thoughts and looked to the brighter aspect that I am still young, vibrant, and free spirited. One day my day will shine that I can be who I want to be. I am grateful for all the guidance that my parents have invoked in my life. I appreciate all that I possess and the value of the almighty dollar.

Here I am sitting in my room on my window seat, watching the neighborhood burst with delight. My next door neighbor Danica is outside in her little blue two piece bikini. About to take a round in her big underground pool.  All smiles and giggles, She parades in front of all of her high end friends squealing with happiness. I try to force a smile, but the edge of my mouth just can not form the task my mind tells it to. I suppose the jealousy of my heart keeps my smile a straight line.

Danica dives in the pool with a small splash, and her head surfaces out of the water with such a happy smile. Her friends smile back as they nod their head no. She must be inviting them to join her in the water. They all seem content sun bathing.

I move away from the window. I have had enough eaves dropping on their fun. I really do not want to risk being seen by them, and have their taunting later. They already deem me as creepy. I may as well continue with my daily chores. I walk into the kitchen where my mother is kneading dough for bread. My mother makes wonderful baked bread. The aroma of it baking makes my stomach rumble in delight all day. My mother smiles at me.

"I thought you was going to read for a while?"  asked my mother.

"I started to, but my mind wondered from what I was reading. So I gave up, and thought I would get some more of my chores done." I replied.

"It's summer break Daisy. You don't have to work so hard. There is plenty of day light now. But if you wish to help, then you can help prepare some lemonade. I am sure your father is parched. He has been outside for quite some time now." My mother suggested.

I nodded, and began pulling out the lemons from the refrigerator. We all enjoyed fresh squeezed lemonade on scorching hot days. I loaded the juicer with the lemons, and mother finished the bread and placed it in the oven to bake. I added lemon juice to the small mixture, and began slicing lemons for the top of the lemonade. I then deluded it with some water, and pulled out the sugar and began mixing it all together. I taste tested the mixture to get the right taste and smiled when I got the perfect taste. I added my sliced lemons and poured my mother a small glass to see if it was to her pleasure. She smiled with approval and I felt so proud.

"Go offer your father a glass. I am sure you will be his hero." said my mother. I nodded and loaded a glass full of ice and my fresh made lemonade. I glanced out of the window to see where my father was. He was planting some vegetables in the garden behind the house. I looked down at my clothes. I knew I would be seen by Danica and her friends. I swallowed hard . They will laugh at my clothes. I am wearing my long blue jean skirt, and a casual yellow t shirt with a simple pocket.  I also had on my worn out flip flops that come apart at the toes with heavy walking. I sighed and stepped in the back yard towards my father. I kept my head down hoping not to be noticed. More or less I did not want to notice the fun Danica and her friends was having. If only I could shrink so the fence would swallow the sight of me.  I could hear the squealing and splashing next door. I never made eye contact with them. When I heard them silence I knew they took notice of me. I kept ,my stride making it to my father. He saw me coming and met me at the start of the garden. He smiled at me, wiping his brow.
