Nothing out of the ordinary occurred the next few days. The only excitement that occurred was my Aunt Trudy coming for a visit. She brought over materials to start on my room.
We spent an entire day scraping off wallpaper. It was very time consuming and a lot of hard work. I ended up with blisters.
The next day was when the work starting paying off. We began painting my walls a light beige color. It was really beautiful once it dried. I was wanting a brighter color, but my father said I would not be there forever, so we should go with a more neutral tone. I reluctantly agreed. After seeing the finished look I was pleased.
While the paint dried my Aunt Trudy took the material swatches I had chosen and picked out the material for my window treatments. She and my mother sewed the material into some beautiful drapes. The window had white sheers outlined with turquoise, dark blue, and black striped drapes. My room was transforming beautifully.
Our next adventure was picking out bedding. My Aunt Trudy brought over her laptop and we searched the internet looking at different bedding styles. I finally settled on a satin turquoise comforter with a black flower design in the middle. My Aunt Trudy found the cheapest deal and ordered it for me. I was excited.
While we waited on the bedding to ship, we took my current furniture pieces outside and sanded them down and painted them white. My aunt changed the handles on them to a brush nickel design. It transformed them completely making them look brand new. We was all stunned how nice the furniture pieces turned out.
The last few changes of my room transformation was pillows that my mom and aunt sewed together. My aunt brought in accent pieces and art work for the finishing touches.
My bedding was the last to come in. I was ecstatic with the completed room. Even my father was impressed. Aunt Trudy and my mom added pops of color with the pillows they made. They was differently shaped and they had bright colors of turquoise, pink, and black. My bed was filled with decorative pillows. My aunt even designed a rope of sheer bright pink curtains that went from one high bed post to the next. I finally had the look of luxury I had always dreamed of. On the wall above my bed was a black decal of the words "DREAM" on it. My night stand had a decorative vase full of bright pink flowers and a black base lamp with a large white shade on it.
My window seat had new material that was soft like a fleece blanket. It was black and fuzzy. I had more decorative pillows resting on the window seat. One was black and turquoise with a chevron pattern on it. Another pillow was round and had the words "BELIEVE" written on it. It was bright pink with black satin material. The bookcase below it was now filled with black woven baskets instead of books.
I had a hope chest at the end of my bed that had a black shine. I had all of my bed linens inside it.
My aunt had found me a desk and had it sanded and painted black. I had my books on the shelf and a lamp with a chrome base and the shade was a light beige with black fringed trim at the bottom of the shade. I had a cup full of pencils and pens. I had my calculator, stapler, and notebooks for my future homework assignments.
She had changed my old light fixture to a ceiling fan with spot lights to brighten my room. I also had a area rug under my hope chest that was beige and turquoise diamond patterns.
I found myself staying more and more in my bedroom. I bragged excitedly to Tristen about the new look my room transformed to. He tried to sound happy for me, but he was a guy and it really did not affect him like it did me. I am sure if it had been a new car, he would have made a special visit to see it. The room make over completed my victory to style. I almost wished I had a friend to show it off to.
