I am not sure how long my Aunt Trudy stayed. I suppose I was really tired after our shopping adventure, because I had fallen fast asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night after a terrible nightmare. I had even missed dinner. I woke up starving. I refused to get up and eat in the early morning hours. I tried going back to sleep, but my growling stomach was not going to allow that skipped meal. I threw the covers from my exhausted body, and rolled out of the bed. I scooted my feet through the hall and into the kitchen. I knew I did not want to eat anything that I would have to take 2 hours of working out to burn off the calories. I shifted through the refrigerator settling on water and tropical fruit salad. I ate numbly not even really tasting what I was putting in my mouth. I quietly cleaned up after myself, and went back to my bedroom. I crawled back into my bed and snuggled with my pillows. All I managed to do was toss and turn through out the remainder of the night. I was wide awake, and my mind was running wild with anticipation of school starting soon, my shopping adventure, my run in with Danica, and how I could arrange make up in my senior year.
I gave up on sleeping. I got up, and started sorting through all of the clothes that my Aunt Trudy had given me. I giggled at the memories of our fashion montage. I decided I would put them in order and hang them in my closet in order of how I would dress my first week back. I knew I should wear what my mother and I went shopping for first. After getting the more fashion trend clothes I really did not want to wear them first. I should dazzle them up and make them more chic. I had a few dollars saved up. I could buy some cute fashion scarves or costume jewelry to give them more style. I pulled out my shopping bags that I had purchased. I had all skirts and dresses. I pulled out a yellow sun dress that I thought was fabulous. After seeing my cousins clothes I realized it was rather plain. I needed some glitzy belts to bring some bling into it. I pulled out the clip on earrings my aunt had given to me. They was in an assortment of sizes, shapes, and colors. I put on my yellow dress, pulled out the belt I wore with the dress I came home in from my Aunts. I neatly brushed my hair, put on a gold pair of hoops, and my cross necklace. It made an improvement. I was still not fully satisfied, so I pulled out a knitted white shrug to put over my shoulders from my cousins old clothes. I smiled at my reflection in the mirror. I added my diamond headband and clips. I am sure I would confuse a few people at school with this look. I sorted through my shoes. I decided on a pair of slip on white shoes with yellow stripes at the toe area. I really wanted to add some make up, but I also wanted to save it.
I could see the sun trying to come up. I yawned, thinking I should try laying back down. I slipped off my clothes and shoes and put them back in my closet. I needed to organize the rest of my closet later. I put my pajamas back on and slid back under my covers. This time I did manage to fall back asleep.
I didn't sleep long. I was way too rested to sleep more. I got out of bed, and walked into the kitchen. My mother was sitting at the table sipping on coffee and reading the newspaper. She looked at me when I entered the room.
"Good morning stranger." my mother sneered. I made a silly face at her.
"Morning Mom." I yawned. I went to the refrigerator and got out the skim milk. I opened the cabinets and found my cereal. I made my bowl of cereal and sat down with my mother.
"You slept the evening away yesterday. You must have had a long day with Aunt Trudy." my mother said in between coffee sips.
"Yes I did. It was fun though." I said still yawning. I began eating my cereal. My mother put away her newspaper.
"Your Aunt thought that you should be able to wear make up this year." my mother said looking intently at me. I stopped chewing, and swallowed hard. I got nervous.
"We talked about it some during my visit yesterday." I said with a shaky voice.
"Daisy, she showed me pictures of you wearing make up." I gulped. Busted.
"She showed me what I would look like, and gave me pointers on putting it on." I said nervously. The stern look on my mothers face told me that make up was not going to be in my future.
"I thought about it, and I even discussed it with your father. Make up has never been favored in the house. It does not make a person. Its more of a disguise that you are afraid to be natural. We are born natural, and its just more complimentary. However, I know that you are aware that I wore make up at your age. I am not ruling it out because I wouldn't be completely honest. What we decided is we would allow a trial basis of make up. What that means is if we feel you can apply it so that you do not look clownish, then we may allow you to wear it. So, no wearing bold and wild colors that make you stand out, or make you look like a Halloween character. Deal?" my mother asked with concerned eyes. My heart skipped a beat. I was so excited I squealed.
"Deal! Oh thank you Mom. I will apply it like Aunt Trudy taught me." I said hugging my mother. I was so happy that I did not finish my cereal. I ran out of the kitchen and got dressed, and started practicing applying make up. I was proud of my make up job. I decided I would wear a khaki skirt that went to my knees, and a pink shirt with a sheer scarf around my neck. I put my hair in a half pony tail, and slipped on a pink pair of small heel slip on shoes. I thought I looked stylish. Then I saw my white legs. I need to get a sun tan before school starts. I could work in the garden today, and get some sun.
I was on my way to a new Daisy. I had almost transformed myself. I still have to work on my attitude matching my appearance.
