Harley was jut drifting off the sleep, content in The Jokers arms when there was a knock at the door. She frowned in her tired delirium, whining a little as she felt his weight shift behind her. He laid her back against the pillows, kissing her forehead gently, lulling her back into her sleep-like state.

The sound of skin hitting skin made her shoot up. She raced into the hallway seeing an enraged Pamela standing over the Joker's hunched form, cradling his cheek. She hit him! Harley couldn't believe it! Ivy looked up at Harley. She had never seen so much rage in the red-haired woman's eyes. So much hurt.

"C'mon Harley, lets go. You don't need to stay with this freak" She spat angrily, holding out her hand for the blonde girl. "Come on baby doll, lets go home."

Harley bit her lip anxiously, her eyes glancing at the green haired man now standing up, his eyes piercing hers. A warning. Harley gulped.

"Red.." she said softly, lowering her gaze to the floor. "I am home. I'm home now..."

She heard The Joker's low chuckle as she dared to look up into Pamela's eyes. They were filled with betrayal and pain. Harley cast her own eyes away, unable to look. She hated seeing her that way and knowing she was the one to cause it.

"Red, please... you have to understand-"

"What?" Pamela asked sharply, stepping closer, towering over Harley dangerously "What do I have to understand, Harley? That you'd rather be with that psychotic, abusive man than with me? What are you to him? Nothing! And you'll continue to be nothing as long as you're here!" she spat angrily, her eyes glinting harshly in the dim light of the hallway.

"I'm not nothing" Harley said quietly, digging her toe into the floor, shuffling ever so slightly. "I'm not."

"Yes you are" Pamela hissed. "He called you back and what do you do? Come running right into his abusive arms. Don't you have any guts? Or are you just one big forgiving doormat? Is that all you are Harley? Because that's what it seems like to me."

"I'm not a doormat" Harley protested quietly, still not looking up at her. "I love him. And he loves me too."

Pamela laughed, but there was no humor in the sound. "Love? Is that what you call it? Was it love when he told you your baby didn't exist? When he refused to acknowledge that? Who was there to pick up those pieces? Was it him cradling you every night? I don't think so!"

Harley shivered at her words. She looked over at The Joker for any kind of support, but he was leaning against the wall, watching this play out. It looked like she was on her own.

"Pam, I know. I know what you did for me. And I love you for it, really. But my Puddin'... he can give me things you can't. We're going to have a family!" she said, her eyes lighting up at the words as she looked over at him. His face remained stoic at her words, making her smile falter a little.

"A family?" Pamela breathed. Harley looked at her and nodded, still giddy at the thought.

"I could give you that" Ivy said softly. Harley looked at her and frowned. All traces of anger were gone from her face, leaving only sadness. "I would have given you a family Harley."

She frowned, confused. She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, trying to avoid those green eyes. She knew she would never be able to forgive herself if she saw her expression.

"Red.. I don't think you understand what I meant.. Children-"

"I would have given you that Harley. I'd do anything for you to have that. I'd have given anything" she said softly, her voice cracking a little. The sound made Harley's heart ache. She hated hearing her like this. She was always so strong. So in control of her emotions.

"Red, please" Harley breathed. She couldn't do this. Not now. Everything was beginning to look perfect with her and her Puddin'. It was like a dream. Buts as she looked at Pamela's defeated form in front of her she realized that she was destroying another dream. Her dream.

"I love you Harley" Pamela breathed, the words almost getting lost in the silence between them. "I want you to come with me. I'll treat you better than he ever will."

The Joker laughed then, pushing himself off the wall and walking to put his arm around Harley's shoulders possessively. Where Harley would have normally welcomed the attention, now, in front of Pamela, it felt wrong.

"I thought you already had a doormat" the Joker said with a toothy grin as he leered at her. Pamela scowled.

"That's not what I meant" she growled angrily.

"Really?" he asked, an expression of mock confusion on his face. "Because isn't that what you called her before? If she's nothing, then why bother with her?"

"Don't twist my words Clown" she hissed angrily, looking over at a confused and conflicted Harley.

"That doesn't sound like a nice way to describe someone you care about, don't you agree Pumpkin?" he asked, turning to look at Harley.

Harley nodded at him dumbly, casting her gaze to the floor again.

'At least I don't beat her around like you do! I bet that's what caused her to loose that baby in the first place!" Ivy yelled, the sound causing Harley to flinch.

"Stop it" she whispered. "Please"

"At least she knows I love her!" The Joker snarled angrily. "She knows that when I hit her it's because she needs to be taught a lesson! Because she deserves it."

"Stop it.." Harley mumbled again, trying to reach up and cover her ears. The Joker heard her, reaching down to place a long and deliberate kiss on her head.

"You heard the lady Plant, scram" He chuckled, tightening his hold on Harley's arms.

"Harley?" Pamela asked, ignoring his words. Harley looked up at her and nodded. "Please Red" she whispered. "Just go."

Pamela started at her, clenching her hands into fists.

"Don't come running to me next time he hurts you. I'll slam that door right in your face. You've made your choice, one I'll think you'll come to regret. Goodbye Harley."

With that, she turned, walking out of the house and slamming the door without a second glance at the trembling blonde in the hallway.

Once she left, it was as if a weight was lifted off Harley's shoulders as she broke down and began to cry, sobs wracking her small chest. The Joker pulled her into a tender embrace, still smiling over his victory.

"Its okay baby, daddy's here" he murmured into her hair.

Where Harley would have once been comforted by his words, now they only made her shiver. What if Pamela was right? What if she made the wrong choice. Her feelings were all mixed up inside of her. But as she held onto The Joker tightly, she slowly began to calm down.

"Just think of our family" he murmured softly. "Think of that Harls"

She nodded, opening her eyes to see Pamela''s recently discarded scarf laying carelessly on the floor and she wasn't so certain if he meant those words.
