POEM: Darkness

The Darkness,

It's everywhere,

It engulfs the light, the good,

And each breath of fresh air,

It's even within you,

No matter how much you deny it,

It's there through and through,

Knowing you're the perfect fit,

Darkness tempts all souls,

And waits below,

Down in the murky waters,

Waiting to drag you in,

Oh so painfully slow,

It will smother you,

And every word speak,

Your lungs, your veins,

Making your heart weak,

It will prickle your skin,

And taint your sight,

Finding a way to be your sin,

Hiding what is bright,

Darkness is our history,

Our myths,

Our stories,

Our lies,

Monsters in our nightmares,

And the creatures in the skies,

It lurks in the shadows,

In the corners of our dreams,

It is the magic of fear,

Manipulating,

So nothing is as it seems,

It's part of us,

Our living,

Our breathing,

And our friends,

The only thing left,

Right to the very end,

Darkness is always here,

It's cold clutches around our

shoulders,

With whispers in our ear,

It invites us to stay,

Where no others choose to go,

Keeps the light at the edges,

Erasing what you know.
